My boyfriend and I came here a couple nights ago and had the hands down best food I've had out in the last couple weeks in Costa Rica. Even though this is Mediterranean fusion food and not your traditional Tico dishes, the food tasted fresh meat and produce, perfect fry on the schnitzel, felt light and healthy, yet filling. They do get busy and don't have too many tables for families. I'm pregnant so it's tricky to find seating that is comfortable for me so I ended up standing in order to give our large table to a family with kids that came in, but some younger people who could fit at the bar stools perfectly fine, swiped it from them. Very rude and pushy so...just a heads up. It's food is worth the wait and the pushy customers. Even if you have to stand at the bar surrounding the small kitchen. Service was slow but, the staff was going as fast as they could and they dropped off a whole carafe of water which I appreciated since Costa Rica restaurants are typically not known for their attentive service especially when busy.
Get the pita if you feel like a sandwich! I got the lamb and beef full of flavor. If you get the plate it comes with pita bread so you can make your own sandwich and seems like more food but not significantly more. Everything was fantastic. I wanted to order a smoothie but didn't get the chance as they...
Read moreWe LOVE Falafel! Our eyes were on this place the moment we saw signage in Uvita for it.
This small patio restaurant is roadside, and has lots of counter + table space. From the moment we ordered, we consistently got MORE than what we asked. The two smoothies we ordered, the cook gave us additional cups of excess smoothie. When we ordered Tzaziki plate, the server brought us an additional 2 pita bread after we ate the 1st provided one. You can tell that the Papa's Fritas are made in-house and they were both crispy and interestingly thin + wide. Our Falafel dip had 4 falafel balls and each was fried and crisped to perfection. You may desire additional salt with your food as I believe most was not salted.
There was a little girl around 7-8 who must be a daughter of one of the workers; she was closely checking on us every 10 minutes for extra help and was just the sweetest.
The only thing that would have improved the experience was the lack of any fans or wind -- the air can get humid quickly...
Read moreEdit - Was a 3 star now a 2 star because the owner became very defensive accusing me of inaccurately reviewing his restaurant and mistaking my order. We infact went to the restaurant almost a week ago, ordered one falafel gyro (or pita or whatever they called it) and one 'kabab' gyro. We did not order two falafel plates, a drink or extra hummus. We paid with my friends card, so I have no clue how this guy thinks he not only remembers me from a week ago, but also my order, and remembers it clearly enough to tell me I am incorrect about what I ordered and thus my review is invalid. You can't say you value reviews and then berate someone who gives you an honest one.
The falafel was pretty good, and the pita bread was good, but I wasn't a fan of the kabob seasoning and the hummus had no flavor. Overall the flavor was somewhat bland and off, but it wasn't bad tasting...
