When they first opened, the food was amazing, but somewhere down the line the recipes changed and the food isn’t as great now. My last time giving them another try, was a chilaquiles and a horchata. Slightly under 10 mil/ $20 and they messed up on the meal forgetting the beans and avocado). Since I ordered it without sour cream, they brought me out soggy chips in red sauce with fried egg. When I asked about the missing ingredients I was told they aren’t included in the dish, but I assured her it says on the menu they are, so they brought me a side which I’m pretty sure they charged me for since the bill was more than it should have been. I had chilaquiles in guatemala that were SO good and I was so excited, but it was very disappointing 😕. The horchata is very grainy and odd taste/ texture. Big bummer, I loved their food and used to recommended this place to so many people as the best Mexican food in town. The food was undeniably delicious, no questions about that! The ambiance was lively, and the decor had a charming touch of Mexican culture.
However, the euphoria was short-lived once I received the bill. I couldn't believe my eyes. The prices were beyond exorbitant; they were downright criminal. I felt like I had been pickpocketed in broad daylight. The cost of a nacho & a Coca Cola was equivalent to a gourmet meal in the Swiss Alps!
25$ for a nachos & Coca Cola in Uvita is beyond imagination.
Sure, the quality of the food was commendable, but it's hard to savor the taste when you're too busy calculating how much money you've just squandered. It's one thing to pay a premium for exceptional dining, but this was extortion in culinary form.
In conclusion, if you have money to burn and don't mind feeling like you've been swindled, by all means, give this place a try. But for the rest of us who appreciate good food without the financial fleecing, steer clear and find a more reasonably priced establishment. Save your pesos for a restaurant that respects both your taste buds and...
Read moreCaters to tourists (along with prices)but also delivers a great experience and dinner! Free chips and salsa. Lots of drinks and juices to choose from, the horchata (just OK) and passion fruit juice was refreshing. The Chicken Enchiladas Verde sauce were good, the pork and shrimp tacos plate were the highlight of our meal! I would go back to have that dish for sure. We finished with homemade ice cream, the chocolate cookie is the best, the passionate fruit also good. Ask for the hot sauce when you eat (we found it to medium). The menu has a variety a kids, breakfast, and vegetarian menu. blthr atmosphere, beautifully, seasonally decorated for Xmas, very clean, brightly lit, airy restaurant. Bruno is the best, love the Santa Hat headband and the Christmas spirit. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. Kudos to the team.
