My boyfriend and I wanted a chill and relaxing experience by the beach when we came to Santa Teresa. Otro Lado was everything we wanted. We arrived after a long drive to a quick check in, quiet and relaxing vibes and a beautiful and clean suite. The pictures don’t do the suite or the inner pool area justice. We loved it.||One of the main reasons we went to Santa Teresa was to learn how to surf. Otro Lado set us up with a surf instructor who also works at the hotel, Richard. We met him at the front desk and walked a short distance to the beach with the boards to start the lesson. Richard was amazing and honestly one of our favorite parts of our trip. He’s a great teacher, really encouraging and overall has great vibes. After our first lesson we immediately booked another for the next day, partly because we just wanted to hang out with him more. We got his information for our friends to contact him when they visit Santa Teresa as well.||I accidentally forgot my camera charger in the room after checking out, & they contacted me to let me know it had been left behind and left it at the front so that I could come back and pick it up. Usually when I leave something at a hotel I assume it’s lost forever - this nice gesture just shows what a great place Otro Lado is.||We highly recommend Otro Lado. Read moreI booked a stay 4 months in advance, but 70 days before my reservation, I requested that my booking be cancelled due to circumstances beyond my control. I asked for a refund, and offered to pay a cancellation fee as is the case for most reservations. The owner declined saying that the penalty fee is the full booking amount.||||I informed his that this is greedy considering my booking was 70 days away, and even airlines allow you to cancel for a penalty. I politely told him I would review his established and thanked him for his time. He responded saying that if I posted a negative review, he would publish our email correspondence. I was shocked at the level of unprofessionalism. ||||The fact that the owner thinks it's suitable to publish email correspondence containing confidential customer information is completely appalling. It makes me wonder how many clients had negative experiences and reached out to the owner for redress but didn't publish a review to let other customers know because of the fear that the owner would publish their personal info on the internet. ||||Pls beware of such management practices at Otro Lado Lodge and spare yourself the frustration by booking better accommodation...
