I researched many places before selecting Los Delfines. I decided Los Delfines was affordable for 4 bedrooms, the location is good, and the reviews are better than most. We stayed for one week in the two, two bedroom cabins in August. Los Delfines Lodge is located on Margarita Road, a short walk or bicycle ride from the main coastal road. The owners live onsite in a separate house. They are originally from Argentina, they live there with two adult sons and have lived there for many years. They were very helpful, friendly and easy to communicate with. We tried not to be bothersome, they did not seem to mind our questions. They provided us with two bicycles so we only had to rent 3 more from the bicycle shop nearby that they recommended, which was very reasonable for weekly rentals. Most of the time we used bicycles to get around. There is a large new grocery store very close by on the main road that was built since the last time that we were here. There are many nice beaches nearby, good restaurants like La Nena, El Rincon Porteno and Selvin at Punta Uva, the Jaguar Rescue Center is close, and even bicycling to Puerto Viejo was not too far for us. We only used our vehicle for longer trips, to pick up groceries, going to Cahuita National Park and Manzanillo. The size of the property is not large, it is about a half-acre and the houses are well spaced and landscaping plants offer screening for privacy. It is landscaped nicely and there are lots of birds and howler monkeys visiting several large trees nearby. The houses are clean and in good condition. The kitchen and bedrooms are separated by doors and the bedrooms and kitchen have screened windows, the outdoor living areas of the two houses are open to the outdoors. There were not too many mosquitoes while we were there. Other reviewers mention the noise from the nearby Margarita Road which is directly next to the property. The road is rough gravel, some people drive too fast which makes more noise when they pass by or sometimes there are loud motorcycle or car stereo. The road is heavily used by local people travelling back and forth to work, there is more traffic and noise in the morning, evening and on weekends, most of the time the road noise was not too intrusive. The climate for the area is hot and humid during the day, cooler at night but still humid. The houses have ceiling fans in all of the rooms which helps cool the inside since there is no air conditioning. With the bedroom ceiling fans, there is good air flow from the screened windows, we slept comfortably. . The houses are well shaded and the temperature inside the houses was comfortable. We were pleasantly awakened each morning at daybreak by the sound of birds and howler monkeys. There are neighbors nearby with dogs that sometimes bark in the middle of the night. The furnishings are minimal, the beds were acceptable and the living room furniture is old and not very comfortable. If you were there for one or two nights, you might not notice the comfort of the living room furniture. We spent most of our evenings there, so we would have appreciated more comfortable furniture. The kitchens have the basics including refrigerator and gas stove, coffee maker, microwave oven. One of the gas stoves had a gas leak when we arrived and the owner replaced the stove the next day. ||When we arrived, the owner Miguel showed us the outdoor shower to rinse off after returning from the beach. A couple days later, we were told not to use the outdoor shower and use a garden hose attached to a rainwater tank. He said the water tank was not being refilled from the local water utility and there wasn’t enough water capacity since there has been so much new development that are connecting to the water system and the system cannot support the additional connections. || Also there was a problem with the water pressure pump at one house that kept cycling on and off, even when we were not using any water. We were asked to turn of the pump at the breaker panel at night when we were not using the water. It is a good location and a beautiful area to spend a week. Overall, we had a...

The time at ”Los Delfines Lodge” was really fantastic and we fell in love with the clean accommodation, the beautiful green garden and the sounds of nature straight away.
We arrived there quite spontaneously and immediately the hosts Marta & Miguel took loving care of us. No matter whether it was new drinking water, fresh bed linen and towels, great tips on restaurants or activities - both were always there, asked at any time if we needed anything else and left no wishes unfulfilled.
We felt very safe, the area is great and same the connectivity - you can quickly go to the beach, the nearby supermarkets or the small town of Puerto Viejo to get a bit of the PURA VIDA flair....
But what really stands out are Marta & Miguel, who love what they do and with a big heart they make sure their guests have a great time....
Anytime again! Highly recommended 😍
