This week we will be sharing amazing recommendations of must-visit hidden gems in Puerto Viejo, Caribe Sur Costa Rica on @espotscr. First off with @rionegrocr, we visited this place for dinner time and Wow 🤩 what a way to start a delicious culinary experience in the Caribbean.

Of course, we wanted to try seafood for our first dinner!

We tried the Catch of the Day (delicious amberjack) dish which was a mind blowing experience of flavors, it came with a reduction of white wine and butter -lord!- simply delicious. The fish was super tender and fresh and accompanied by white rice and vegetables. Simple, fresh and you just didn’t want it to end!!

We also tried the octopus 🐙 One of the best octopus we’ve ever tried, it was buttery tender easy to chop and felt like melting in the mouth. This came with a reduction of wine as well, super strong yet delicious flavors.

For drinks we enjoyed a Fruity Mojito and a Fruity Smoothie both with a mix of berries! Great drinks as well! 🥰

Overall we give them a 10/10, the attention was great, they kindly gave us a mini appetizer and mini dessert for free that left us wanting for more! The place is pet friendly as well, which we...

Food Quality: amazing place to try. The food is delicious. Awesome burgers! Both of them, very tasty, great combination of ingredients, and very satisfying. Pizza was also quite nice. The french fries were also amazing. Cut in wedges and perfectly fried so they were the perfect amount of crunchy and not oily.

Portions: very nice portions. The burger is the perfect size, and a nice amount of fries as a side dish.

Drinks: a nice variety. Margarita was well made.

Price: $$-$$$ very good prices for what you get. Good quality food.

Service: very friendly staff. Always happy to help.

Atmosphere: very nice place just before the bridge. Lots of wild life around. Even saw a big iguana while enjoying my lunch.

Highlights: food. Especially the burgers.

Things to improve: as i mentioned to the staff, maybe a little bit extra blue cheese in the burger, but everything else was amazing.

Payment...

My husband and I enjoyed everything about this charming restaurant. From its cozy seating options, to trendy music and fun lighting which added to the ambiance. On top of that the service we recieved from our, very cheerful, attentive waitress, Anumi was to notch. She gave us a lot of recommendations, was very knowledgeable about the menu and even recommend the best place for vegan icecream in town. The food was a great mixture of traditional and vegan menu items, plus a fantastic variety for beverages. My husband had the vegan pizza and I had the guacamole. Both he and I were very pleased with the taste, presentation and portions. A lot of times when restaurants veganize a dish the flavor isn't there. This wasn't the case at Restaurants Rio Negro where the dishes exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning to try other dishes during our week...

Just what we needed for a mid-afternoon off hours lunch. We both had small pizzas which we wanted to tie us over because we were still planning to have dinner, but late. I had the Nicola and hubby had the shrimp one and they were so good! The location is off the main road in Cocles. Open air seating with a mix of tables and chairs, and couches with coffee tables. Laid back vibe. Our server was super friendly and the hungry cat who stopped by our table was a bonus (we didn’t feed him). Would have been nice to go there during dinner time to see what the vibe is like then. A good reason to visit the area again!
