We were a vacationing group of 3 couples, each with our own rooms, (rooms 1, 3 and 8). We were in room 3 which had a California King bed, which was actually very comfortable, with 4 pillows provided. The mini-split AC unit was in good working condition and kept the room at any temperature we required. Our room had a smallish TV on the wall, but the cable signal was spotty/snowy for many channels. The furnishings were a little sparse for the size of the room. There was a small lifetime folding table with two patio style chairs on one wall, an old shelf unit with a pull-out shelf for what probably used to hold an older CRT type tube tv in the past, two end tables, each with a desk lamp, a metal shelving unit in the corner by the bathroom. The room itself was fine for the price. The bathroom is where they need to make serious upgrades. The bathroom sink is only plumbed with cold water. The shower was pretty big, with sliding doors, but the shower is only plumbed with cold water and relies on a strange water heating shower head that really struggles to heat the water. What you end up with is a lukewarm (sometimes) shower experience. Most of the time it's closer to a cold shower. The tiles are cracked and dated. The toilet had a leaky base, but not bad. We were provided two bath towels, two pool towels and two washcloths, which we could swap out for clean upon request. The pools and bar areas were beautiful and well maintained. The bartender was a hoot and very funny. The reception/breakfast area were fine for the price and the breakfast was served by the cook behind the window, where you can see what is available, but he serves the portions as you ask for them. The fruit and dry cereal is available to the customer directly. They serve orange juice upon request. The breakfast every morning consisted of a choice of scrambled eggs, rice and beans, some sort of sausage, fried plantains, bananas, papaya, pancakes with syrup, toast, dry cereal with milk, orange juice. Not bad at all. Long story short, the location is great. The staff was very nice and attentive. The rooms are dated and need work, but for the price/value, they are ok. The bathrooms REALLY need to be updated. The pools and grounds are beautiful. Right at the base of Volcano Arenal. We paid $129 per night US dollars and enjoyed our stay. From some of the other reviews I've read, they are steadily improving. The Wifi works VERY well, even inside the rooms, so the reviews stating that the wifi didn't work in the rooms must have been posted prior to them...
Read morePlease read to the end!!! I didn't want to leave the place without giving our review, due to the lack of professionalism and the lack of customer service skills. First of all, if you're a national customer do not attempt to come to this place, the manner in which they treat nationals oppose to foreigns is outrageous. I'm a costarican but my husband and kids are not; we currently reside in USA. Decided to visit the place as goggle recommend it... we took my parents who also live in the estates, and my grand mother for her birthday. After arriving and waited patiently for the rooms (3 in total) we were approached with a very rude attitude by the claening staff, the TV was not working, NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS, (if you work remotely as we do is importante to have access to internet), the fridge were disconnected and not working properly, towels were misisng and apparently they're short on those, since it was a problem to obtain it, when we inform of all the details and necesities if seems that you're asking for contributions... you're not receiving what you're paying for. At breakfast, my mom was prohibited to enter the food court and made her wait 10min prior opening at 7:30am although there were foreign customers already inside seated and waiting as well. My husband and my son didn't consumed any breakfast (coffee only) even though, my mother asked for a sweet plantain from the food service and they didn't wanted to provided because she ate already, MY GOD!! CHARGE ME FOR THE PLAINTAINS!!! But let us enjoy our family time!!. I'm literally using the internet, sitting at the bar as I leave this review because I find necessary to make consciousness about this type of business, where they sell leisure, please understand we spend our money here for a relax time ... not to encounter this type of misfortunes. The only good review I can leave is the premises are very clean, pools and springs are well maintained. Personel needs customer service traning ASAP. I hope they can read this and correct...
Read moreAs a family of two adults and two teen this was our first trip to Costa Rica. We stayed two days in Tamarindo in a very comfortable place, Tamarindo Diria. Then we moved into La Fortuna to spend next 4 days at Sueno Dorado. We checked in at 4:30pm and it was alreay getting dark. This seemed like a rundown motel. No lights in the property. If you dont have rental cars, you are stuck. You cant walk to any place from here. Roads are not designed for walking.Rooms looked cheap with dirty bathrooms. No closet No chair.Bedding were unwashed with cheap pillows and mattresses. My daughter was feeling down and they gave her one of the last flimsy blanket they had.Receptionist was very rude and uncooperative with no smile. Please read this review twice and do yourself a favor and skip this place. This ruined our vacation. Also wanted to add that its been 3 days and I am back home struggling with bug bites from beddings. The last day when i woke up i saw spiders in the blanket. Ewww! They have many pools that have hose fed water that is temperature controlled. They close water supply of it at around 9pm. Pools are...
