I think this place used to be something. It has fallen into disrepair and there doesn't appear to be a bright future ahead. BTW the slides close at 6pm even though the rest is open to 8 or 9 pm.
Some things to acknowledge. 1. The slide sections are not well joined so you take a bit of a beating going down as you hit the joints. 2. One of the pools was originally done in a blue tule but many pieces are missing and have not been repaired causing areas where you could scrape yourself. 3. There is a type of palm here with clusters of small green and dark red berries. The skin comes off like a grape. Do not touch the Berry to your skin. It will cause a significant irritation that will last 30-45 min. It is highly uncomfortable. None of the locals we asked about it seemed to know what it was. 4. The lockers are mostly beat up and there is a deposit to get a key. 5. There is a lunch place with food to choose from that seems like an okay price. We did not try it. 6. The kiddy pool and playground it significant overfill and can be a drowning hazard for the kids especially the exit to the slides. 7. The kiddy area had a slide hanging on by one bolt. The rest was rusted or broken off so beware. 8. Many of the water features in the kiddy area don't work.
For the price we paid (52,000 Colones for 4 people) was...
Read moreThe only redeeming factor at this place was that it was practically empty when we went, so we never had to stand in lines. But the slide equipment is in serious disrepair. You can see paint peeling off of all of the large slides, and feel it scraping your back when you go down. Water is gushing out of cracks under some of the slides, many of them didn't have enough water running down to keep our kids moving, they got stuck and had to scoot down.
The staff actually doesn't monitor when other riders have gotten to the bottom of the slide, so we collided with another raft on El Mamut and almost knocked them off the side of the slide. My wife crashed heads with a child in the other raft, luckily he wasn't seriously hurt. They didn't even have a staff member monitoring the triple slide, kids were just going whenever they wanted. Shortly after that, both the largest slides were closed after only being open for 20 minutes. The triple slide was closed down when we left too. Don't expect that all of the attractions will be operating.
All that said, it was cheap. About $35 for a family of 4 because they were having a 2 for 1 sale. Just be warned, it looks nothing like what you see on...
Read moreWanted to go with the kids but was closed on Thursday in August 2022: "closed" sign on the entry gate.
Update: Spoke with the staff after my wonderful visit with the family on Friday after randomly driving past again and seeing the gates open! They're currently (maybe just during the rainy season?) open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with their usual hours. I updated Google Maps with that info.
We had a blast! Definitely not the safest water park I've been to, but it sure was fun, even if we all left a little battered and scraped from slides, pools, and walkways that probably wouldn't survive US lawyers. ;) I was also surprised and delighted that it was only 5000 CRC ($8) per person to enter. I'm not sure why the price was lower than expected, but that was a nice bonus!
The hot pools and water slides were fabulous. There were short lines while we were there, so the kids got fully tired out within 3 hours of climbing stairs.
Finally, the restaurant wasn't open at 5pm as hoped so we could get dinner, so make sure you have eaten before going or investigate their restaurant hours. Maybe it's only for lunch or...
