I had a horrible experience here. We decided to take the stairwell down the steps instead of the elevator to realize that once you are in the stairwell, there is no exit back into the hallway or on the floor. We were not sure if it was OK to open the door that lead to the parking lot. The door had a green chain on it stating emergency exit. I was not aware that if we were to open the emergency exit, that it would trigger the alarm. So I called the front desk numerous times to be told that someone was coming to open the stairwell door. I repeatedly explained our room number and location.
I heard the door open above the 2nd floor open, so I yelled out, but no one responded and the door closed immediately. I called the front desk again because no one came to the floor that we stated we were located. We informed them again were we were located. Last call to the front desk I was informed that someone was coming who never appeared. I explained that it was hot in the hallway. After this back and forth a few more times, my significant other and I just went out the emergency exit. I guess you can say thank you that the alarm did not go off and disturb the other guest at this hotel. After coming through the door and standing in the front of the building to cool off, I received a call approximately 13 minutes later stating they searched all of the stairwells and could not find us, and then asked what our room number was again. I stated that at that time we went out the emergency exit. After standing in front of the building for a while, we walked through the hotel lobby to see the staff in their giggles of trying to hide the fact that this amused them. If this was a person that needed medical or emergency assistance, they'd probably be deceased or injured. So unprofessional. I am a business owner and as a business owner, I would never treat anyone in this manner....
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Excellent location. I spoke with the shuttle driver and he told me that they recently improved the access to hotels from the airport and now it is easier for them to provide the service every five minutes. All you have to do is call the front desk. The hotel itself is very clean, very spacious, excellent lighting, very comfortable. I was very surprised to learn that the rooms were very spacious, and they even had a fridge. For being located near the highway, it is actually very quiet. A definite plus was that it is located right in front of the main car rental companies. Front desk staff was very helpful and very friendly. Incredible breakfast options which are included with the room. I was very surprised to see that breakfast options were actually healthy and it was actual food. Coffee in Costa Rica all across the board is just the best it doesn’t matter where you get it. And here you get it for free too. The manager will come to you to ask about your experience. They will appreciate any feedback. The morning of our departure, our flight was delayed and eventually canceled. All the staff were very helpful from the front desk, the shuttle driver, the manager and security to make sure that we did not have any more stressful situations added to the already delayed flight. They even allowed us to do a late check in free of charge while we figured things out. Now, this was an exception, don’t get any ideas or try to take advantage of nice people. I am very grateful with the experience at this hotel and I will definitely recommend staying here when you arrive or before flying back home. Excellent location to move around and visit local restaurants on an Uber. Free...

I would like to share my experience with the Hampton by Hilton San Jose Airport in Costa Rica.
On 25 May I booked a room for my daughter for one night from 27 to 28 May 2025 for a price of USD 190.97 and left my credit card data for security purposes via booking.com. Upon arrival, my daughter paid in cash at the hotel reception. On 30 May, the amount of EUR 172.06 was debited from my credit card.
I informed the hotel about this double payment. The hotel’s Operations Supervisor Raquel Martínez explained the following to me in her reply email from 11 June 2025:
My daughter allegedly said on her arrival on 27 May that she needed a reservation because she did not have one. That is why the hotel created her a reservation and she paid in cash. The charge on my credit card was because the reservation I had made (for my daughter, 27 to 28 May) was a "no show" and the "no shows" must be charged.
That explanation left me speechless. My daughter is an adult and knew for sure that we had booked an overnight stay for her in this hotel together on the PC two days before her arrival. She had chosen the hotel and only needed my help because a credit card was required. Apart from that, the hotel should be able to see that a reservation has been made as soon as they enter the guest's name. At least there was no problem finding the reservation in order to charge my credit card.
As the hotel’s Operations Supervisor Raquel Martínez has confirmed in her email that my daughter had stayed at the hotel from 27 to 28 May 2025 and that she had paid for her stay, I asked her to send me the invoice. I am still waiting for an answer back. I feel cheated and do not recommend the...
