I saw the sign for this place yesterday and decided to try it today. This is essentially a food kiosk adjacent to Clinica Biblica staged to compete with Smashburger or Johnny Rockets. Tables outside of it were clean and it was not full.
Overall: Food decent but not outstanding. A bit expensive, most likely due to its location.
Burger: Good quality Angus beef. Burger is of medium size. The vegetables were fresh and of good quantity. I ordered bacon on mine for 800c extra but they put very little on it.
Fries: We threw about 40% of the fries away because they were so hard that they would've broken your teeth. Portion size was good.
Drinks: Coca Cola products that come with a small cup. Come with free refills up to 30min from your visit. That seems fair.
Shake: My wife ordered a shake and I tried some. The whipped cream on top was flavored like the natilla hard candies which I personally find disgusting. I'll give them a pass for this. The cookies and cream shake itself was of good quality.
Pricing: 17500c for two burgers, fries, drinks and a shake. Currently around $27 USD. Prices are very similar to what one would pay in the U.S.
Overall decent, would certainly eat there again. However, due to poor quality of the fries and the high prices this doesn't go on my "Must eat while in San Jose" list. It's simply not a...
Read moreBE READY TO WAIT 40+ MINUTES! and do not expect quality food for your time. Their employees are more concerned in talking to each other, and yes, that includes their "manager."
My Google review:
I was excited to eat authentic c.r food before leaving.
I waited 40+ minutes (we are in an airport, and food should not take more than 30 minutes) with order 39 and others.
I and others like order 39 followed up with the young lady on our order. We were told that the food would be coming out soon.
To my surprise, my order was removed from the screen, and when I asked for my order, there seemed to be confusion on if the order was made or not.
At that time, I asked for a refund, which took another 10 minutes. I am now rushing to order from another place, which provided food within 10 minutes. When I asked for a managers name the guy that provided the refund gave me the name Fruen and when the manager arrived, because the guy couldn't figure out how to print a copy of the receipt, I was told by the manager that her name is krylsie.
I was lied to multiple times. Your workers seemed more interested in talking to each other and laughing when people kept asking for their orders. There was no sense of urgency what so ever. The employees are just collecting a check and have no concerns that we are...
Read moreIf you’re flying out of SJO and not stopping at Toro Burgers, you’re doing airport food all wrong. Every time I’m here, I make it a point to stop by, because why settle for overpriced, sad airport snacks when you can have a damn good burger and a cold draft Imperial instead?
Let’s talk about Andrea, the real MVP of the night shift. She’s friendly, fast, and doesn’t mess around. You order a drink, and it’s in front of you before you even finish asking. Need your receipt? It’s already there. No stress, no waiting, and no risk of missing your flight because someone is taking their sweet time figuring out the register.
The food is on point. I had the Signature Burger, just as delicious as always, and my wife went for the Pretzel Bun Hot Dog, which might actually be the best thing on the menu. We both paired our meals with a draft Imperial, because priorities.
Toro Burgers is hands down the best way to spend your pre-flight time. Great food, great drinks, and Andrea making sure everything runs smoother than airport security ever could. Always a highlight of my trip.
Pro tip. If you’re thinking about stopping here, just do it. The tiny excuse for a meal you get on the plane is not...
