Flores is a lovely place a simple 5 min walk from the beach and right beside a supermarket. The room comes with everything but a microwave and a stereo. The hostesses were very accommodating. I was surprised to find that the room was made up every morning and that she did it so quickly even on a 15 min breakfast break from the room. Very impressive and it was helpful to have fresh beach and bathroom towels everday. The included breakfast was great but I would suggest asking to pay a bit and get anything on the menu, if you are staying more than 2 days, otherwise you will get bored of the options. The portion sizes are huge and she even gave us an additional breakfast to go each on the day before we would miss a breakfast for an excursion so that we would not miss out. The decor is great and the set up and layout is awesome. Water pressure is not the greatest but definitely sufficient, hold the flush down until everything is down. Enjoy the pool before your shower. Reccomending pattagonia restaurant for dinner. Walking toward the main road on the right is the surf club with a lovely lady atendant on monday and wesnesday that can accommodate everything you may want to do in the surfing city for the best prices I saw. Your best option is on the top of the chalk board $110 full day horse ride. Zip line. Mud bath. Hot spring and 2 more things I can't remember. $5 surf board rental , you just have to walk it the 5 min to beach otherwise it gets more expensive by $5 the closer you go to beach. Anyway hotel flores rocks! (it's far enough away from the noise to sleep too and air conditioning is too good so be careful not to...
Read moreThis review is for the studio, room 2. Tamarindo has changed a lot in the last few years: it has grown considerably and become more expensive. That said, we were surprised at the poor value for money represented by this hotel. We had hoped that, at $135 a night, it would be decent quality. We were disappointed that our room was yards from the busy main road and that the windows were an old louvered type which let in not only huge traffic noise but also some fumes and dust. The room was tired and had not been maintained well - stained tiles and toilet, chipped paint, ill-fitting curtains and door which, given the cost, seems unreasonable. The room is in serious need of a deep clean. Also, even after being looked at twice by staff, we could only achieve two outcomes from the ac - way too hot or freezing cold - no happy medium. Wi-fi was also inconsistent and often weak or non existent. On the plus side it is very close to shops and restaurants, the bed was comfortable and the fridge worked well but the noise from both the road and the pool/ reception area (from where we could hear people’s whole conversations in our room) were overwhelming for us and we would not return. Frankly if these sort of prices persist we would not return to Tamarindo - it is no longer what it was and is currently pricing itself out of the market, when so many...
Read moreHotel Flores provides a lovely setting for your visit to Costa Rica. The beautiful grounds with flowers, the pool with fountain, and of course the early morning howling monkeys all make for a relaxing stay. Paola and Cynthia fix the most delicious breakfasts ever....omelets, granola with large chunks of fresh fruit, breakfast sandwiches and good strong coffee. Walter took care of our room and always had a smile on his face. Our room, while not a Hilton or Marriott, had the basics with a comfortable bed.|The hotel, located on a very rough road, is a short distance from the beach, a trillion restaurants(😜), a market, a laundry, and various tour businesses. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.....large rocks, uneven surfaces, and dust and more dust make sidewalks and roads a challenge. The heat, thank goodness,is tempered by a strong breeze. Take plenty of money..nothing is cheap here. We used credit cards for meals and American dollars for everything else. Before booking tours, do your homework and check reviews. Our trip to the rainforest was very good and seeing the sloths was the highlight of the trip. |All in all, we found the Costa Rican community to be friendly and...
