Hotel Elixir Tamarindo — Hotel in Tamarindo

We booked this place based on the positive reviews, but were very disappointed—mainly due to poor cleanliness, especially in the room.

When we checked in, we found around 60 flying ants in the shower. It was hard to believe housekeeping hadn’t cleaned this before our arrival. We had to spray and clean it ourselves. The next day, we told the host, who said she was already aware of the issue, and promised to notify housekeeping. But after cleaning, the dead ants were still left all over the shower and bathroom, completely untouched. This was extremely unpleasant and disrespectful.

Other issues included: • A strong, bad smell in the room • Stained, unclean pillows • No replacement of basic toiletries(soap, shampoo etc), which we had to request ourselves at night

Although the host was friendly, she didn’t follow through, and the lack of cleanliness ruined our stay. For the high price we paid, this felt more like a hostel than a hotel.

This charming boutique hotel, with its intimate six rooms, offered an absolutely amazing stay. The location is excellent, providing a peaceful and calm atmosphere while still being conveniently situated. The hotel boasts a great pool, perfect for unwinding, and the entire property is impeccably clean. What truly made our experience exceptional was the owner, Elisa. She is incredibly welcoming, caring, and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure every guest feels like at home. And let's not forget the amazing breakfast! Elisa's avocado toast is a must-try. I absolutely loved my stay at Elixir Hotel! 🌟 This is not your typical touristy resort; it's a unique gem. Run by the owner, who prepares made to order breakfast from a few options she makes available daily. The rooms are cleaned daily, and Eliza even maintains the pool herself.
