My wife and I stayed here in February 2023. We were booked in for 7 nights and were really looking forward to our stay, other reviews were good and the photos were great. ||||Upon arrival at the “hotel” a friendly lady showed us to our room and explained some things about the hotel. We were very surprised first to see that there was a lot of construction going on next to, and across the road from the hotel. Second, that the hotel looked unfinished and third that there was a very large (size of at least 2 basketball courts) open air bar and music venue complete with stage 20ft from our room overlooking the site! ||We expressed our concern at the very large open air music venue 20ft from our room and the lady said there had only been a couple of events there over the last few months and they had finished at 9pm and not to worry they were taking legal action against this venue. ||||We took her at her word and settled down for a nice stay as the room was very nice and we had travelled for 24 hours from the UK to get there. ||||Day 1 of our stay was interrupted at 7am by the ear piercing sound of a circular saw cutting metal. This carried on until 6pm each day we were there, meaning we had to leave the hotel all day to avoid it, no lounging next to the pool for us!||||Day 2 In addition to the construction noise during the day, we returned to our room to find that the music venue had a huge event on with around 500 children enjoying themselves at a disco. This wound down at 10pm but was incredibly loud even in our room.||||Day 3 After complaining about the noise the previous evening the girl on the front desk agreed that it had been terrible and said that it probably wouldn’t happen again and that they had called the police on the venue. We decided to move hotels but there was nothing available until the following afternoon. That night the music venue held a dance party until 2am. ||||Day 4 we moved hotels to the Tamarindo Bay boutique hotel which was exceptional. ||||Please be aware that the management team refused to refund us for the days we had stayed (but did not charge us for the cancelled days how nice of them….) stating that the noise was not their issue and blaming everyone else. ||||At the point of booking there is no mention of the construction or music venue so we feel they have been very dishonest especially as they are taking legal action against the music venue. We would not have booked if we had any idea of the situation. Avoid...
Read moreFantastic location, a clean, modern hotel in the center of Tamarindo, only a 5 minute walk to the beach! Very fast internet, and the brand new rooms are very large with plenty of room to hang out, beautiful bathrooms, and a beautiful adults only pool to plunge into while enjoying the wonderful weather of Costa Rica.
This hotel has private parking, which is a premium in the Centro of Tamarindo, and is really at the center of everything in town. Restaurants, bars, shops, anything you want is within a few minutes walk. It's a block or so off the famous Tamarindo main drag which follows the coastline - in case you aren't familiar, this is a very popular surfing town that also draws a very eclectic crowd from many countries. Make your reservations in advance because the hotel can book up, and this is the cleanest, newest lodging in town. The management team is terrific, Viktor the owner is extremely responsive to your needs, and we were pleased to meet a very kind woman at reception from Croatia who can answer any of your questions about the area, her name is Martina and she is super.
The House of Nomad Tamarindo has very fast, reliable internet, so you can work from the hotel and walk to the beach in between work sessions. There are lots of surf lessons offered a few minutes away and tours like zipline, crocodile monkey boat tours, giant catamaran ocean cruises, and this is really the center of activity in Guanacaste.
House of Nomad is the best hotel value in Tamarindo. Stay here if you want to be at the center of everything for a great price. It's a small, modern boutique hotel and you won't find anywhere else in town this...
Read moreWe were disappointed the minute our shuttle pulled up in front of the white sheet metal gates. Upon entering the property, we were immediately met with a construction trailer, pails, ladder, hose, and other construction junk. As we moved on, we were shocked by the lack of landscaping and greenery. We saw lots of gravel, cement, metal, and a chain link fence. It was clear that this was a construction site. It was also clear that any pictures online failed to show the construction trailer and equipment. The metal monstrosity beside our property was a venue that had late-night events featuring loud music, screaming, whistling, and a light show within meters of all eight units which faced it. The venue, along with our property, was horrible to look out onto so we kept our blinds closed most of the time. We will say our room was large and the bed was comfortable, but ants were a problem and our toilet pipe broke at 2 am flooding our bathroom. We used the empty TV hanger as a coat rack. Be aware, there are no beside stands for books, water, or medication.||Even though we communicated directly with the owner, Viktor, we were neither compensated by him nor Booking.com. The owner has a fight on his hands with the venue next door but he needs to address his lack of disclosure of his own property. He needs to be fair. We were not the only unhappy patrons while we were there. Who wants to travel all the way to Costa Rica, spending thousands of dollars, only to become so disillusioned and frustrated? It was definitely not the Costa Rican experience we expected. ||Pura Vida? Not today.||So for those viewing this property, don't...
