Guesthouse Merla — Hotel in Grad Šibenik

We usually stay at the Jadran Hotel nearby, but decided we couldn't stand its decrepit bathrooms any more, and since a lot of home owners in the Old Town have turned their houses into apartments for rent, we felt like trying that instead, and we couldn't have been happier.||||Guesthouse Merla is ideally located, it's basically on the waterfront but its windows overlook a little square and a couple lovely streets, so that you are close to everything without any great noise disturbances. ||Everything inside (apartment 1) is brand new, with a fresh and clean feeling, although the place itself is a typical house with antique windows and wooden shutters, and they kept the old stones visible in several walls, which looks lovely. They have a website where you can see what the place looks like.||The bathroom is rather big, with excellent water pressure and everything in working order.||The kitchen has all the basic amenities, although we ate out and didn't really cook, what with all those inexpensive restaurants and bakeries around. ||The owners seemed helpful and friendly enough, they let us know to just ask in case we needed anything, which we didn't as we're used to travelling and like to do things on our own.||Overall, our stay at Merla Guesthouse was a very pleasant experience, I would definitely recommend it and stay...

A good choice for not too much money if you need to be in Sibenik. A warm welcome by Franka the owner. Full explanation but later she didn't respond on a tekst with a question. The guesthouse is located in the middle of city center in a street towards the seafront promenade. So easy to get back should you have forgotten something or if you have a terrace around the corner. But also a bit noisy because the windows are not really noise-insulating. It can become cramped and damp inside, but the air conditioning works well. Two single beds in a not too large room (we had the double room but there are also two apartments). In addition to two chairs and a table there remains but little space for luggage. Interior is a nice combination of modern and old accents; is has a certain décor. And a high room/ceiling. A modern shower/bathroom with nice enough (day) light. Good beds but very slack pillows. The apartment was newly renovated, very nice furnishing and furniture. The bathroom was big and really in good condition. There was no view out from the apartment. The price included breakfast with bread, ham, cheese, yogurt, coffee or tea, juice etc. Really a rich meal! WiFi was functioning well.
