Blu Mare Hotel — Hotel in Grad Novigrad

The hotel was great and, of course, brand new. The staff (especially Ema, Emili, Drago, Valentino, the shuttle man and some whose names I don't know) were just really helpful and pleasant. Always with a smile!

The Mare room is sublime and I certainly don't think inferior. The materials, colours, smells, style all sublime. A wonderfully soothing atmosphere.

The spa is small but nice. The gym fits the style but has insufficient facilities, we did not meet our needs here. The rack is also not strong enough, I'm afraid.

The view and location is sublime... only for this we would already choose it.. Never before have we enjoyed our sea view so much. Soundproof rooms, lovely beds, nice fridge. Luxurious bathroom. Just great. We will definitely come back to completely relax again. What a dream. Istian dream.

Restaurant; delightful dining in a beautiful and modern, stylish and luxurious setting. Discovering flavours, combinations melting on the tongue. This is pure craft and passion. Be guided by the amazing maitre, chef and their team. At decent prices, value for money! If you want to escape tourism and enjoy your dining this is the place to be. We are real foodies, but this one was able to blow us away. Ps, breakfast is 👌👌.

Some constructive tips for this starting hotel;

Online highlighting of the opportunities for bathing and swimming in the sea nearby, big plus! Didn't know..

Being allowed to use the shuttle at all times (was not clear to us, now for us no problem the distance in terms of parking, but for others possibly yes - the hotel is in the old town area).

On the television they have a wonderful guide with images and info (about, hotel, surroundings, activities, restaurant,...). We as non-television watchers only discovered this on the last day.

On the same TV there is a breakfast menu, the special omlettes are not included in the breakfast, this was unclear, but very tasty!

Free water in the room, definitely keep this, very nice.

Towels in terms of quality moderate and limited replenishment.

You can't hang anything to dry on the terrace.

Towel ban on the limited number of loungers... Not nice from the other visitors...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Blu Mare in the charming old town of Novigrad, Istria, and it was nothing short of exceptional! The hotel is perfectly situated close to the Mediterranean Sea, offering stunning views and easy access to the heart of this picturesque coastal town.

The rooms are an absolute delight—spacious, full of natural light, and impeccably designed. Every detail, from the high-quality furnishings to the thoughtfully chosen decor, exudes elegance and comfort. The coffee machine in the room was a standout—easily one of the best I've experienced in my years of traveling! If you're lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, you're in for a treat. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the port, the charming lighthouse, and the endless blue of the Mediterranean was a highlight of my stay.

Breakfast at Blu Mare was another unforgettable experience. The food was outstanding, prepared with care and presented beautifully. The service was flawless—every team member was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Their hospitality extended to every aspect of my stay, from check-in to room service, making me feel like a truly valued guest.

What sets this hotel apart is its unique blend of aesthetics and warmth. Every piece of furniture, every light, and every detail seems intentionally placed to create an elegant yet cozy atmosphere. Despite the modern design, the public spaces remain inviting and human-centered, making it a place you want to linger.

Blu Mare feels like a hidden gem, and while part of me wants to keep it a secret, the amazing team deserves all the recognition and success they can get. Judging by how quickly rooms are booked, it’s clear that this hotel has many loyal and frequent guests—and for good reason.

Amazing modern small hotel right on the water in the heart of Novigrad. View outside the room is just astonishing and so relaxing. Still ironing out some kinks, like AC intermittent leaks in/ outside the rooms, but diligent and fast to correct any issues. Room cleaning could be a bit more thorough, as well as replenishing used items (tea, bathroom amenities). Complimentary water daily appreciated. Really nice sauna/ spa facilities, 10/10. Breakfast is great and varied, and overall high quality, although on few occasions pre-cut fruit was fermented;( Parking is removed and an issue, even with the shuttle system they have in place; however being in the center of Novigrad this is understandable and staff is on top of (golf cart) driving you to your car anytime. Reception staff was very friendly and accommodating, although some of their maintenance colleagues were may be a bit too familiar at times. Overall great stay, would stay again! Price on par...
