We were 4 people in 2 rooms staying this spring at the hotel. As I was requested by the employees of the hotel, I reflect here the feedback I already provided there.
We really liked the facilities of the hotel with the renovationis performed last year. We consider as well that the food of the restaurant really good, both breakfast and dinner buffet. Also the location is perfect to visit Opatija. However there were plenty of details that were disappointing us considerably for a hotel of this category and price (just listing here some of them): There is a considerable lack of employees in all areas. The easiest to see is the restaurant. Even if providing really good food, some days we had a pile of dishes in our table waiting to be picked up. Even some days we had to take them ourselves to were they were collected. The actual waiters were really nice but were lacking of any kind of restaurant coordinator so the activities were performed really randomly. There is no control at all (or very minimum) of who is accessing the restaurant. We were also surprised about the different "default" equipment of every single room. On one there were house shoes,in the other one there wasn't. On one there were glasses and water boiler, on the other there wasn't (even if we mentioned it in the reception at least 3 times, we never got these glasses and the water boiler). On one there was even sugar, but no coffee or tea (we were wondering for what then). The room service was really superficial: furniture with considerable dust, no cleaning smell in the bathroom at all, no care at all about details as bottles of shampoo/body lotion/soap (we got one day even 13 of them! we were wondering for what). In the room "instructions" it appears that the air conditioning can be controlled by the guest directly in the room. However this is not the case as we learnt later and it is only controlled from the reception. We asked after the first night to turn it off for the rest of the stay. We had to ask during 3 days at least twice every day in the reception to turn it off, as it was turning again and again on 26-28 degrees and no one was doing anything to "stop" it. Only when we asked to talk with the responsible of the hotel at that time "measures" were taken and then the air conditioning didnt turn on again. There is not that much control of who is entering the hotel (as proofed in the case of the breakfast) as the reception has no visilibity of the entrance (kind of hidden) and the employee helping with the lugagges is not located at the door as in normal hotels, but waiting in the reception. This causes issues as well, as when arriving by car noone directs you where to stop and unpack (you basically have to stop at the mainstreet and quickly go inside to look for somone to help you) There was a continous feeling that there is a considerable lack of employees coordinating the activities (in the restaurant area, in the rooms area...). It appears to be everything kind of random and to solve the actual issue and that's it. Even after complaining about certain things that were missing, the person at the reception was saying "yes,it will be solved" and nothing was happening until we were calling to the responsible of the hotel. This is not appropiate at all from a hotel of this category. Last but not least, when doing the check-out I was invoiced certain charges (insurance and registration cost, whose charges I never saw in a hotel before) which I shouldn't have been as it was stated in the confirmation of my booking. After complaining about it, the employee at the reception told me that it could be corrected but it would take some time (to go to the cafeteria in the mean time). As we were not having that time we left.
We believe that the hotel has plenty of potential, but if this kind of details are not improved we believe it will be an average hotel in a very short...
Read moreThis was my first stay in hotel Imperial for non-business purposes, and overall I can say we were indeed very satisfied, and would gladly come again. This is indeed an old hotel, so it has it charm of former times, but was (recently) throughout refurbished and its up to the modern standards. It’s essentially a modern hotel in an old skin. Not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea, but we liked it. Location doesn’t get any more central, which as a result means you will hear some street noise, but that’s is to be expected. Service was just outstanding, everyone was very polite and more then helpful. Up to a level that after a few days you feel almost as at home. Breakfast is perfect, nothing more can be desired. Dinner is ok (we had a half board), it’s not a Michelin star quality, and there is some room for improvement, but there is a lot of variety and is certainly a good value for the money. Would take it again. Parking is a bit of a hassle as location is central, and cost extra 25Euro per day, which is the same as the costs of parking on Opatija public grounds, but just plan this and call hotel in advance. To sum up, this a great hotel in centre of Opatija, and we are planning to come again, primarily because of excellent personal that makes us...
Read moreDecent hotel, service is great, hardworking people is all that makes this runing, you can sens a lack of personel tho ther are a lot of guests still arround and in Opatija in general.
They should work on their food department, thogh selection for breakfast and dinner is ok ,there are room to improve in quality, example: guacamole or avocado spread was old and it was already fermented and funky still served on breakfast(i guess no one tested it before), salmon was just thrown there on rocket and not carrfully selected and there was some leftower salmon that was unedible, watermelon was old and not carefully protected in fridge during prep so it was dry and just wrong, warm couter with shiw cooking was ok.
Wellnes departmen is what it is all about ,congrats on that one of the best wellness experiances i had. Gym is ok for a small gym.
I think that dogs should not be permetrd to go in hotel cuz there was a dog barking in the morning..ew. Also the clening ladies should not talk infront of the rooms in the morning.
