The Monte Mulini Hotel in Rovinj markets itself as "pet-friendly," but our stay there was a significant test of patience, and we often felt that our needs and the needs of our beloved four-legged family member were ignored.
Imagine the scene: You wake up in the morning with plans to enjoy your day at the hotel and its surroundings, but instead, you find yourself having to wait for hours for your room to be cleaned. But that's not all. During this time, we had to leave the hotel premises and find activities outside, which was particularly challenging with our dog. We approached the staff about this issue, but our requests for faster cleaning were met with negligence and indifference.
At the reception, we were initially told that we could visit the Mulini Beach pontoon with our dog. Our disappointment was even greater when we went there and were unpleasantly surprised by the unfriendly approach of the staff, resulting in us being asked to leave. Our explanation that our dog is an assistance animal found no understanding from them. So, if a visually impaired person visits the hotel with their assistance dog, it seems the dog would have to stay in the room...
Our experience was further marred by being accommodated in a room designated for wheelchair users. While we appreciate the hotel's efforts to be inclusive and cater to guests with limited mobility, for us, it meant reduced comfort. The pillows in the room were so uncomfortable that we hardly slept the first night. Although they were replaced for us later, our impression was already tarnished.
There's another thing that disappointed me during our stay at the Monte Mulini Hotel. Every morning, we witnessed hotel guests reserving sunbeds with their towels. These sunbeds then remained unoccupied all day, preventing other guests from using them. Many, including us, thus couldn't comfortably relax by the pool or on the beach. I see this as a significant oversight by the staff, who should regulate such behavior and ensure that sunbeds are available to all hotel guests. It's truly unfortunate when guests feel they can "buy" public space at the expense of others by reserving sunbeds.
In conclusion, I'd like to emphasize: If you're looking for a genuinely pet-friendly hotel in Rovinj where you'll feel respected and understood, unfortunately, Monte Mulini might not be the right choice. Our hope for a pleasant stay was marred by a series of negative experiences.

This hotel is beautiful, but there are serious issues with staff training and customer service that need immediate attention.
The Problem: One of your beach staff members consistently treats guests in an unprofessional, rude, and entitled manner when they inquire about available sunbeds.
Yesterday's Incident: When I politely asked about available spots in the late afternoon, she was dismissive and arrogant, claiming she had a "list" without explaining any reservation system (which I had never been informed about during my stay). When I asked about a clearly empty spot, she responded rudely. Hours later, when no one had arrived and the day was ending, I moved to that spot as my original location had become shaded.
This Morning's Incident: Not wanting to deal with poor treatment on my final day, I took an empty spot as other staff members had allowed me to do throughout my stay. She immediately approached me aggressively, saying I was "making her job difficult" before I had even spoken. When I offered to move as soon as the actual guest arrived, she refused this reasonable solution, told me she "wouldn't leave," and called management.
Management's Response: The manager completely dismissed my concerns without listening to my side of the story. He defended her behavior, claiming she's "well trained" and "treats guests very well," while she continued to interrupt me during our conversation. He essentially validated rude treatment toward guests and told me to "enjoy my day" after his staff had ruined it.

His detailed explanation of our amenities and what we can expect from our stay was like a mini welcome tour that it made us extend another night as soon as we changed for dinner. The twin sisters Ines & Nives kept our room spotless and impeccable which I couldn't say for many other hotels we stayed in throughout our trips. So thank you for making us feel comfortable!
