I chose to stay at Lazaros Stonehouse based on the photos and descriptions on their website, which gave the impression of a charming and peaceful accommodation with a warm atmosphere. After a business trip in Limassol, I decided to spend a few days in early September 2025 in Pano Lefkara to experience the traditional culture of Cyprus.||I had selected an upstairs room through the website. Upon arrival, there was no personal reception — instead, I was instructed to call a phone number. While this worked fine, it didn’t feel very welcoming or personal. The owner remotely unlocked the front door via an electronic system, and I was told to pick up my room key from behind the reception desk, which remained completely unmanned throughout my stay. I noticed all the room keys were still hanging there, suggesting I was the only guest — not the most comforting feeling when traveling alone.||I proceeded to my room upstairs. The entrance consisted of two wooden shutter doors with glass behind them. While the wooden shutters could be locked, the locking mechanism didn’t feel very secure. The glass doors provided little to no privacy, as anyone could easily look into the room. Contrary to what I had hoped, there was no private balcony — only a shared rooftop terrace. Unfortunately, the view was quite unpleasant: a large construction ruin right next door, with some parts boarded up due to potential structural danger.||The room itself was underwhelming. There was a single wardrobe without shelves, no surface to place or open a suitcase, and a fridge that turned off whenever you left the room — not very practical. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well, though the size of the bed left very little room to move around in the small space.||The bathroom was in poor condition. The toilet seat was loose, the tank took about five minutes to refill after flushing, and the silicone sealant in the shower area was worn out. It also took a long time for the water to heat up. Additionally, the sink was clogged upon arrival, though I must say the owners responded quickly and resolved that issue the same day.||In short, while the location is quite good and responses to issues are prompt, the room itself left much to be desired — especially for anyone considering staying with more than one person. I found myself leaving early in the morning and returning late at night just to avoid spending time in the accommodation. After two days, I had seen enough of the area and decided to check out a day earlier than planned and continued my trip...
Read moreGood stuff: Excellent location Beds were very comfy, and the house itself is very pretty The owners seemed pretty happy to let us check out an hour later (so at 12 instead of 11), and our room was ready earlier than the expected time
Bad stuff: Two friends of ours booked a stay at the same place and arrived well past the check-in time, only to find that their room wasn't ready. When they complained to the owners, things sort of escalated for no reason. The person they spoke to on the phone was confrontational, responding with dismissive remarks like "It will be ready when it's ready" and "What do you expect us to do?" Moreover, because my friend was coughing (during a dust storm), they were threatened with a COVID test and the possibility of being denied their stay. After a few hours, a different person from the establishment called back, still confrontational, telling them that they're reporting them to Booking.com. Despite having stayed the night, the owners marked their reservation as a no-show by evening or the next morning. For some reason, the owners claimed they offered me a refund(??)... Not sure why... but definitely dodgy people It's stated as a "self-check-in", but you still have to contact the owners as there's no way to actually self check in. We were lucky someone else was leaving at that point, and they opened the door to the common space for us, and then one of the cleaning staff was very kind to help us find our room and key. One of our coffee mugs was dirty. The room was small, but the worse part is that the door opens right in front of the beds, and there's barely any space even for an able bodied person to get in the room. The bathroom window opens right in the middle of the shared courtyard, which makes it very uncomfortable to use as you can hear everyone (and everyone...

Our stay at Lazaros Stonehouse was extremely disappointing. We booked two rooms for four people and expected a smooth self-check-in process, but we didn't receive access codes or room numbers before arrival. At 14:50, no one was at the hotel to assist us, and we had to call the owner, contrary to the advertised self-check-in.
One room was unclean and unprepared, causing significant delays. When we followed up at 17:00 for an update, the owner was rude and unprofessional, questioning my health and threatening a COVID test due to my allergy-related cough. This behavior was both offensive and distressing! Later, another person threatened to report us to Booking.com without clear reasons. The blankets were dirty, and the walls were extremely thin and not soundproof, adding to our discomfort. The next morning, our reservation was canceled and marked as a 'no-show' to prevent us from leaving a review.
Overall, the service was substandard, it is nota true 'self-check-in' hotel as advertised and the owners are extremely rude and unprofessional. The only positive aspect was the location of the guesthouse. We advise future guests to avoid Lazaros Stonehouse, it is not recommended for a...
