The charming spa town of Frantiskovy Lazne, less brash and crowded than its more famous neighbours of Karlovy Vary and Marianske Lazne, and full of beautiful pavilions and spa buildings in characteristic Habsburg yellow, is dominated by spa hotels which are often not available to book by the night, catering as they do to spa guests who stay for several weeks.||Wellness Hotel Ida, located on one of the central streets of the main grid system, neatly fills the gap, with around 16 spotlessly maintained and comfortably furnished rooms set back from the street and therefore very quiet. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was a generously sized bedroom attached to a comfortable bathroom with large bath. The Standard and Superior rooms are presumably a little smaller and I think would have been quite adequate to our needs, but were fully booked on our preferred dates. Breakfast is a continental buffet featuring an excellent fruit salad. Hot breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, frankfurter, ham and eggs etc. are cooked to order and included in the price of breakfast. We ate in the restaurant several times - the food was good, especially by local standards, the chef apparently trained in Italy: Frantiskovy Lazne is certainly no gastronomic capital, with most restaurants offering cheap Czech classic dishes with dumplings to cater for the mostly penny-pinching German spa guests who dominate the town's visitor profile. Service at Wellness Hotel Ida was friendly and members of the team went out of their way to be helpful, especially to elderly guests with special needs. The staff spoke excellent German and some English. Many of the other guests gave the impression of being repeat customers. The hotel has some balneo and wellness facilities on site, which we didn't have the opportunity of using. One disappointment in a town with so many grand belle epoque establishments is that the hotel building itself is rather plain. It's certainly not a place for acting out fantasies of the grand old days. That having been said I would happily stay there again. The town itself offers many possibilities for charming walks in the spa parks and woods and we were kept happily occupied pottering around for the 3 days which we spent there without any need to go...
Read moreI booked the Wellness Hotel Ida with great expectations. Although the room was clean and warm, Wifi was available and the breakfast acceptable, coffee was mediocre. Although the Hotel calls itself Wellness Hotel, there are no wellness amenities, not even a sauna. Parking space for 2 cars is tiny just in front of the hotel and unusable if the first car is parked against the house wall. I was greatly disappointed with the customer service. The lobby was often closed. I booked 4 nights, although I stayed at the most expensive room only for 2 nights, Announced my early departure at the lobby the day before I had to leave, the lady at the lobby insisted on the full paiement I had to pay all 4 nights no arrangement possible. I can only warn you to...
Read moreWe have stayed here for 3 nights late October 2013. We had high expectations, but they were even exceeded. The location is just in the center of lovely Frantiskovy Lazne, but it is very quiet. The room is spatious and the beds very comfy. This combination allows for an excellent sleep, which is for us a precondition to enjoy the rest. The food is very good and there is a daily special. We have also booked several procedures and all were very good, especially the massages and physiotherapy were great. But what we liked the most was the homely atmosphere, the hotel is nicely small (16 rooms) and managed with love and care by Mrs. Ida and her husband. There are always there to help, for an advice what to do or just a chat. We will...
