Beautifully renovated old building with stylish apartments, conveniently located close to the railway station. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished, the bed was comfortable.
It would have been a very pleasant stay, had we not spent a week there during an extreme heatwave. We knew our apartment wasn’t equipped with air conditioning, but we hoped that is was a well thought out decision by the owners. We were wrong. While the first few days were bearable with windowblinds fully shot, it got really tough towards the end of our stay. First, the air cooling machine that was present, was there mostly for a placebo effect. Secondly, when we opened the windows to cool the room down during the night, the only option to get a good night’s sleep was with earplugs. The building is located next to a surprisingly popular street with a bus stop on the other side. So aside from loud people returning from the town center, the bus stop also was quite a flourishing nightlife spot. It was obviously worst during the weekend, but on weekdays it was also loud enough to interrupt our sleep.
Another problem with a lengthy stay is a very basic breakfast. A small variety of products available for hotel guests gets boring and repetitive very quickly. Especially that the breakfast is served at a good breakfast spot with nice a la carte options, which sadly are unavailable for hotel guests.
As for the service, the lady at the reception was very kind, but told us that towels and bedsheets will be changed every three days. After nothing happened during 5 days, we had to ask for this service.
Overall I would give a rating 3,5 / 5, but since it’s not possible 4 stars would be too much. If you are renovating the whole building basically from scratch, there is no point in installing air conditioning only in less than half of the apartments - there definitely is space for installations that would not affect how the building was looking...

Read moreThe best accommodation experience during our month long trip to Czechia. The place has loads of character, modern amenities that somehow fit into the 600 year old building, the most comfortable beds and lots of space. It is not right in the centre of Mikulov which was an advantage as it was peaceful and still in a walking distance from the city centre. A bonus is a nice terrace with a view of the castle. We...
