Using the Pension website I booked a Double Room with shower and including breakfast.||We arrived by train in Mikoluv and Martin kindly offered to pick us up from the train station. Alternatively good directions are given when your booking is comfirmed. Note though that the bag drag would be uphill.||An easy informative check in and we were allocated Room 3 on the 1st floor across the hall from the office. Martin helped carry our luggage up the spiral staircase.||Our room was spacious and very well appointed with everything thought out well. Its largish with a seating area, silent bar fridge with drinks (to be paid for). The windows are openable with a view of the Chateau. There is a fan and air con for hotter weather (but we didn't need either). The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of accessible power points. There is a safe and a tv (didn't switch it on). Tea/coffee making is provided in the room. Wifi is free and fast.||Our ensuite was spacious, with double hand basins and spacious shower. Toilettries-soap, shower gel and shampoo -are provided. There is also storage space for your own toilettries. There is a drying rack, always welcomed by travellers, also in the ensuite.||Breakfast is served each morning between 8-10 in the breakfast room on the ground floor. At the bar is an honour system, where regional wines are available to purchase. The breakfast selection and quality is excellent. Juices, fruit, cold meats and cheeses and condiments together with fresh pastries and a fabulous bread choice on the tables. Hot food is specially prepared and is a very generous serving. The Viennese Sausages and Scrambled eggs are recommended. The coffee was specially made and also excellent quality.||The Pension is well located in easy walking distance to everything you need to see. It is in a very quiet part of town and you are able to have the windows open without being disturbed.||All staff we encountered were charming, gracious and helpful.||This pension really makes me smile when I think of it. It was the perfect reintroduction to Czech hospitality and we are so glad we...

Read moreWe arrived in Mikulov on a Saturday and the owner had already texted to see what time we would be there. He was at the the door, waiting to help us in with our luggage and then to park the car in the private little gated lot in back. Our room on the second floor was a triple, so it was nice and roomy with a little round coffee table and three comfortable chairs around it. The room was filled with light, had beautiful wood doors, shelves, and cabinets and was modern and very clean. There was a beautiful view out our garden window where I caught the spectacular sunset on our last night there. ||Pension Balthazar is ideally located near the town center, but just a bit away from the tourists gathering there. It is also very close to one of the castle entrances and just down the street from the fine restaurant at Hotel Tannenburg. We had delicious breakfasts and enjoyed the warm hospitality of our hosts. We would...
