They tried to ruin my anniversary!! :) TL,DR: This is a beautiful place, but when visiting the restaurant be prepared to be treated as a lower-class costumer unless you're also staying at their hotel. The place is elegant, the food 'looks' good, the prices are steep, the service is a joke. We booked a table and admittedly arrived some 20 minutes later. After being seated and having eaten the starters (which were delicious and left us both intrigued and craving for what was to come) we asked the attendant to see the menu again to order the main courses.
We all exchanged dumbfounded looks when she told us she didn't expect us to eat more and that we would have to wait more than one hour to get anything we'd order.
That was plain odd. Did she really think we'd stop eating after a soup? We analysed what just happened for a while. I went to discuss our options with her, but at this point she started excusing herself that some unexpected guests were coming and they were missing one cook and this and that - and suggested we'd come another time.
My wife was just sitting there, hungry and pissed (rightly so). Turns out they gave priority to the hotel guests who had to eat their dinner..and after serving all of them, they could get back to us! That is lame and even the food was promising we didn't want to spend an hour watching a feast of people who came after us.
So we decided to go. At this point, she could have won us over by offering a little discount or voucher or whatnot in order to compensate for THEIR MISTAKE - like the good restaurants who care for their clients do. I would have gladly accepted an invitation to come another time. Instead, we were presented with a rather fat bill (never left a restaurant this empty, in both senses) and a quick goodbye as she had to get back to her cat.1 guests. NEVER MORE, thank you, SORRY. Read moreThe place is very beautiful, although it doesn't really look like the previous pictures posted on Google, so everyone should be prepared for that. The service at both breakfast and the separate restaurant, which is not part of the hotel, is quite surly, and at breakfast they don't pay much attention to quickly refilling food and the restaurant's kitchen closes at eight o'clock in the evening. The hotel only advertises its wellness service, but this can be misleading, as the wellness department is closed due to renovations. However, I didn't find anything to criticize about the hotel part. The unique rock walls that run into the corridors, rooms, and bathrooms give each room and bathroom a unique look. This is quite unique, which makes it a special experience for people who come here and want to relax. The staircase is not suitable for people with limited mobility, the elevator only starts from the first floor in the main building. The outbuilding can be reached via a path paved with wooden planks, which is also adventurous and a beautiful sight, but towards the metal stairs, these wooden planks are on the verge of breaking and should be renovated. The TV is not connected, so there is no broadcast. So to summarize: there are few staff, there is hardly any enthusiasm or smiles, the restaurant is large but the kitchen closes early, and the breakfast area is small and not replenished often. They didn't solve my gluten-free problem, they could have easily put it on my salad at dinner in the restaurant, and they did. And for breakfast we ate gluten-free bread that they brought. I'll say it again about the hotel, there's nothing wrong with it, the view is beautiful and everything is adequate and comfortable, and the rock wall gives the entire hotel a...
Read moreStayed at the hotel for one night. The room i had was on the top floor right at the end of the corridor. The room I had was really cool and funky, i loved how they'd used part of the crag wall as part of the look. The bed, albeit a single was comfortable and the majority of the room was clean. The only negatives would be the lighting in the bathroom which was pretty poor and some of the hidden corners that had cobwebs. Apart from those nit picky things. I liked it.||The staff also came across as really friendly and warm. The greeting I got was lovely. ||||The breakfast was ok, but the choices were limited and small, the cereal bowls were the smallest i'd ever seen. The fried eggs i had though were really tasty. ||||All in all a lovely little hotel, but breakfast really poor considering the cost of the stay. I appreciate portion control, but it was a...
