Take your time, this is going to be a loooong review 😅😅😅
Every year I take a short trip with my son to experience very special moments just with him. This time it took us to Prague and our choice fell on the “Grand Hotel International”.
The hotel
Spacious reception hall with bar and plenty of comfortable seating 24-hour reception desk Free parking (limited spaces available). The ticket received at the entrance is replaced at reception by a card that allows you to enter and exit at any time of day. The porter is available at all times. Free gym (stay limited to one hour). This special ticket is also available on request at reception and is handed out in the gym. Souvenir store directly in the foyer Hotel bar “Armstrong” for the consumption of various drinks and snacks Sky Bar on the 14th floor with a wonderful view over Prague Restaurant “Symphonia” for a cozy dinner or an extensive breakfast Cash machine Possibility of massage Location close to the center with direct connections to the most beautiful sights
The room
Extremely clean and hygienically impeccable Comfortable mattresses Air conditioning One bottle of water free of charge (otherwise other drinks and snacks available from the minibar) Safe The shower wall is not perfectly flush with the edge of the bathtub, so unfortunately a wet bath cannot be avoided The curtains are very translucent. Our room was on the side facing the street, where there was a beautiful sunrise in the morning, but it was not possible to sleep in without a sleeping mask (for us)
The staff
The majority of the team was very courteous, friendly and absolutely helpful. Unfortunately, some of the others gave the impression of not being welcome or of being a nuisance.
The breakfast
If you can't find anything here, you're not hungry! There was everything you would expect from a breakfast buffet: bacon, eggs (boiled, fried or scrambled), sausages, pancakes, vegetables, fruit and yoghurt, muesli and a variety of pastries, bread, rolls and croissants, cold cuts and cheese variations, juices, tea and coffee machines. We missed absolutely nothing 🤤 Unfortunately, the predominantly young staff here sometimes seemed more than listless. A smile was missing here and there. Empty plates were sometimes cleared so quickly that it seemed hectic. In the interests of sustainability, I don't need a new plate for every bread roll.
Other
No matter where we stayed, everything was very clean, attractively designed and comfortable On arrival we were given plenty of information about which buses and trams would take us to our destinations. A map of the city also contained the most important markings and we were given a pass which allowed reduced admission prices at participating partners. Previous guests still had valid day passes for public transport, which we were able to take advantage of 🥰 Vouchers at check-out with a return discount of € 20 on one voucher and a discount of 12% on each additional booking on the other I had to replace a new shower gel in the designated wall application myself. That's not really a problem for me if you knew how to do it 😅 After a few attempts, it worked. We had an additional tube of shampoo, body lotion and shower gel for each person. One tube of each was missing on the third day, for whatever reason 🤔🤷🏻♀️ Unfortunately, the bar on the top floor does not offer non-alcoholic cocktails.
Conclusion
The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. We were incredibly satisfied and really enjoyed our stay. We gave one of the vouchers to friends straight away, complete with praise and recommendations.
There will certainly be another visit to Prague and the Grand Hotel International at some point. A few improvements to the above points would of course be perfect 🙌🏼🙏🏼
Thank you very much for...
Read moreHotel International Prague has its charms. It is steeped in history, with a fairly grand lobby. The hotel proudly showcases the different famous figures that have stayed in the hotel throughout its existence. Even the legendary sprinter Usain Bolt!
The rooms however are quite dated. My group of 4 stayed in a family room on May 1st 2025 and the room just barely has enough space for a double bed and two single beds in an L shaped room. there is a cabinet in the middle and a table in the corner. There are no charging ports near the bed and and the overall hardware has not been refurbished for a long time. The bed was comfortable (but it is on the slightly stiffer side which I like). Overall, the room is not really for you to spend a whole day in, just for sleeping it is fine.
The service is standard for the most part, nothing extraordinary, they just aren't willing to do more than the minimum. There was particular trouble when I wanted an ice bucket. During the day, the reception said that they do provide ice buckets on request. At night when I asked, they said go to the bar to ask, which was already weird (I mean all other hotels I stayed in just gets the ice for me). So anyways I went to ask the bar and they said they will only give cups of ice. I said I wanted a bucket and they said it will cost 100 crowns. So I said no and walked up to my room to call reception. I told reception I was asked to pay for the bucket and the reception said she'll check. After 5mins she called back saying she got the ice bucket for me and told me to come to reception to collect it. When we collected it, she said it's a 1 time favor. I mean it's a heck lot of effort for an ice bucket when literally every other hotel I've been to provides it directly to my room no questions asked.
TLDR; It is a budget hotel with budget rooms and budget service. Fine for budget prices but sometimes it gets high like the public holiday price I paid.
Also their prague pass is useless it's just cheap discounts and nothing substantial. I booked this hotel thinking it was the same as the paid one cause it has the same name but...
Read moreWe've stayed in this hotel for a week. The posh pictures from booking dot com look much better than it is in reality. The general feel is OK, however, the furniture (especially in the dining area) is worn out and stained. The same is true for the rooms, despite the renovation, the windows do not seal well. If it’s a street view - it’s very noisy, almost impossible to sleep due to heavy vehicles, beeping, and engine revving outside. Prepare to use tiny old lifts too.
There are breakfast options on the pictures, that do not exist. For example, the fish was never served. No kinds of usual pancakes, champignons. Only two options for garnish (eggs and baked potatoes mix with vegetables). No vegan or allergy-free options at all. We found the variety much more limited than in lower-ranking hotels and far from the things you would expect from such a hotel.
The service is also quite questionable. While I have no complaints about the cleaning and the front desk, the girls of the “14 floor” restaurant and breakfast were swearing in russian language like dirty sailors (chatting between themselves). It was really not nice listening to someone around the breakfast table “I’m really going to puke now, feel so bad”. A welcome drink was a disgusting joke too - 1/3 glass of juice and the same amount of the cheapest limoncello. Utterly insulting.
On the bright side - if you are a public transport commuter, it’s in a great spot. Rooms are large and the price isn’t that biting compared to other Prague hotels, I would say. The breakfast zone expands to support a large amount of customers and does not feel too crowded, the food is quickly restocked. There’s always enough of everything. I’ve personally liked the toiletries.
Personally, I can not recommend this hotel, especially when you base the expectation on the photos, as we did. But it’s an OK place for a night under, say, 100 EUR...
