The air is very dry and there's no way to adjust the heat, so you better enjoy your bedroom warm... unless you open the balcony door. Just make sure to bring your earplugs in that case. I didn't, which made the night... interesting.
After waking up for the third time that night, by a man SCREAMING (yes, that loud) in the street, I decided to set my alarm a little later, to get the rest I needed. I got to sleep again around 4am and was looking forward to a morning in bed...
But someone had other plans! At 07.30 someone knocks on my door and I briefly wake up before falling asleep again. But not for long, as 15 minutes later my room phone rings. And rings. And rings. I answer.
"I tried to knock but you didn't open. So now I call. Your iron is outside your door!"
Confused, I ask what iron he refers to?
"Oh, wrong room! Hahah!"
Annoyed, I manage to fall asleep one last time...only to wake up 20 minutes later by a loud BANG at my door! The cleaning staff have dropped their gear straight into my door.
At this time I give up, get out of bed and head down to checkout. Already annoyed, I'm met by the receptionist. He gets my room number and looks concerned - "you owe us 10.000 crowns." There's no indication he's joking. I ask him what he means and mention that there seems to be a mix up with my room, referring to my morning adventures...
"Yeah..." the receptionist says. He's quite for a while. "Yes that's right!"
Silence for a moment.
"I'm joking."
Maybe it was fun, maybe not. Nevertheless, I spend 5 nights a week in different hotels, and I usually enjoy coming back to them. This is one is the exception to that rule.
The view was...
Read moreDecent hotel in a location slightly out of the city centre. However, the walk to the city centre and train station is 5mins and quite manageable for most.
Rooms do not come with daily housekeeping, and you will have to inform reception before 11pm the night before if you would like your rooms cleaned.
Sound proofing of the rooms are not great and you will be able to hear other guests arriving back in the wee hours of the morning and slamming their doors. If you have a room facing the police station, you’ll also be able to hear occasional sirens in the middle of the night.
Room looks overall new, but with limited light features. So there’s really only some lights near the bed and in the entrance. The toilet design is terrible, as the bath and washroom area are connected. There is also no raised edge that stops the water from flowing out of the bath, so the entire toilet gets wet when you shower.
Breakfast spread is decent, with mainly cold options - breads, cold cuts, vegetables / fruits, cereals. Hot options are limited to 4 items - sausages, eggs, bacon. But overall spread is still quite manageable for...
Read moreWhat a treat it's been to stay here for my birthday break. It's quite a trek from coppenhagen airport but worth it for the location, vicinity and services. The room was large and bright, we had a balcony and could see beautiful sunsets. It's close by for exploring Aarhus, which is a sweet town, steeped in interesting history. The hotel was bright and modern with very attentive staff who were multilingual. Nothing was too much trouble for them. And the breakfast 😋 WOW what an extensive choice and beautifully cooked. So much to choose from, which catered for many diets - I'm can be quite a fussy eater and found loads to eat from their selection. I had read that the breakfasts were good here and still exceeded my expectations. We had peaceful nights sleep and lovely warm showers here. The products they provide smelt gorgeous - you can even purchase them here too. I can highly recommend this hotel. There are museums, theatres, resteraunts, bars, the docks and children's play area all within a 5 to 15 minutes walk. Thank you for a...
