If your hotel can't meet the international criteria that makes it for the category you display (because of taxes, real estate value or pure greediness) at least don't mislead customers with 4 stars, since : the room is tiny (with the luggage open you can't use the wardrobe, the desk or open the main door!) no air-conditioning no proper sound insulation (and having asked a quite room upon booking we got one in the back, true, but just near the block heavily slamming main door!) no minibar fridge no telephone no instant coffee refill after first day "Pickwick" tea bags electric sockets (kettle side) that don't work and aren't fixed after immediate reporting (we had to move ourselves the kettle to a night table socket this renouncing to a night light) no external shade from light above the curtains ("cache") pillow cases that don't match the pillow size!
Finally a word about the receptionist that saw us coming in with luggages in the early afternoon (after a very early flight) and told us to wait, despite us being the only persons in the whole reception. She then kept on working for several minutes on back office stuff on her computer (note that she was not on the phone) and only after she had finished she finally addressed us with a "how can I help?". In many years of checking-in experiences in hotels all around the world I've never seen such an attitude and arrogance. Considering the poor public transport, if you decide nonetheless to stay here, be ready to walk a lot of use taxi.
Over 200€ per night for this "hostel-like" room??? Better sleep...
Read moreRelatively expensive hotel in Billund, this it's because its Proximity to Legoland. Otherwise it's not convenient for anything else. We pick the most expensive rooms and was a little disappointed when there wasn't any air conditioning. My fault. I should have probably checked the spec of the hotel room at a bit better. I've got a feeling that many hotels in Denmark don't have AC though, but it was extremely hot when we were there. Check in was swift and the girl was friendly. You need to go outside to the rooms most are on the ground floor motel style. There isn't a lift to any 1st floor rooms so bear that in mind if you have trouble with stairs so ask for ground. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening. Breakfast was adequate with most breakfast items croissants fruit cereal the cooked option was very limited but the sausages were excellent. The check out system is strange you check out online (i did this by accident) and literally within 1 min the maid walks in the room without knocking. So after checking out online you can't just drop your key off you apparently still need to talk to staff at the desk. so is a pointless system. The check out lady at the desk on leaving (11th July) was very abrupt and rude. I must say the only staff member that was and possibly the only rude person I met in...
Read moreCall me a snob but... This cant possibly be a 4 star hotel? It's basically a motel with rooms that's seen better days. For what it is i think its fine and the staff are all friendly and doing their best but the whole "4-star" rating throws off expectations.
Rooms Incredibly hot and stuffy rooms with poor ventilation. Very dated decorations unless you are into Top Gun (the original). Mold smell from the bathroom. Keeping windows open at night is not a good idea due to the traffic outside.
Restaurant We had dinner at the restaurant once and while the food was ok (nothing to write home about but not bad) the experience felt typical for a small town with inexperienced waiters doing their best but not really being able to live up to the so called "4 star" experience. Long wait times and hard to get waiters attention even with a near empty restaurant, they couldn't replace one type of potatoes with fries so we had to order a side of fries and a main course with the potatoes removed (at full price of course) and of the two glasses of sparkling wine we ordered one arrived half full for some reason. Maybe the waiter had a sip to get by?
All in all, its fine. It's close to Legoland, the staff is friendly, there is plenty of parking space. Just drop the 4-star act and we will all...
