There is something about sleeping with open windows and being woken up by the sound of waves. Now add on high-thread cotton covers and a great mattress, and you've got yourself a perfect reason to stay in bed until you feel bad about not spending your few days on Bornholm. We stayed two nights at Hotel Siemsens Gaard had it not been for their delicious breakfast, we would probably have stayed in bed. On our second day, we were recommended to try to go for a swim at the Svaneke Badeklub. We were provided with a thick bathrobe and a key and had a great swim and sauna morning. The hotel offers what I'd consider minimalistic luxury and pairs it with a service level that matches that of a 5-star hotel. As a former concierge at the Marriott, I understand high service when exposed to it, and the management at Hotel Siemsens Gaard understands that without staff that has a passion for service, you miss the human touch. If it were possible to give this place more than 5 Stars I would do that. My family and I were visiting the island for a vacation and we had the pleasure of spending several nights at the hotel. The rooms were gorgeous, the beds were some of the best I've ever slept on, and the view of the sea is to die for. We were a large group and had a lot of our meals at the restaurant and you will not find anyplace with better service and cuisine on the island, or for that matter anywhere. An excellent location , we had a room that overlooked the harbour .|While the room was small ( by North American standards ) is was more than adequate for a couple. Very clean with crisp linens and towels . Plenty of warm water for showering and I loved the amenities in the bathroom. Housekeeping refreshed the room each day . A very short walk to the on-site restaurant. A good breakfast buffet with a good choice of various items. Nice cloth napkins, dishes and cutlery.
