Bornholm is a treat in general, but certain places simply stand out from the crowd. You nearly cannot get a bad smoked fish in Bornholm - but what about the best of the best. Look for the five chimneys with the cannons in front, and you know you are in the right place. The fish is no other than outstanding every time, we are there. The accompaniment is indifferent, as the fish simply takes your taste buds on a genuine exotic journey leaving you in a drowsy state of happiness afterwards. Herring, salmon and eels are without comparison, but my favourite will any day be their smoked trout. I am smiling, while writing this... You can bring home fish, or have it shiped regularly to your danish home address, when treating your guests. The prices are high - but fair for Bornholm in general. The view from the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is always awesome and speaks Danish, English, German and Bornholmsk ;-). Read moreWent to this great place last time i visited Bornholm (1 week ago) i had 1 piece of smoked salmon, and 1 hot dish with homemade fries, chili mayo, and tempura shrimps. The hot dish was pure quality especially the chili mayo was nice. But the real expirence was the smoked salmon. I tend to buy a lot of smoked salmon anf every place smokes it with some kind of spices or herbs garlic for example but not this place this place has nothing on their fishes, i have to admit i was a bit sceptic when i first saw it but after i tasted it i understood why. I never had a more smokey fish before it was great! I can still get hungry just by thinking about it. Defiently a place i will visit next time i stop...
Read moreI'm still thinking about the warm smoked salmon I had for dinner; it was so tender and moist with just the right balance of flavour. The mustard dressing that went with it was a delicious complement. The lady who served me demonstrated knowledge of their products and shared how the smoked mackerel should be stored and served. The staff is engaged and help out where needed. E.g., the lady was fixing the dishes and as the queue grew, she came behind the counter to help out her colleague (unlike the staff at Gudhjem Røgeri where only 1 guy worked the bar and the rest basically hung around).
