I spent four nights here in September with no car, although public parking is available close by. Kyhns Guesthouse is very centrally located on a pedestrian street in Helsingør only a few blocks from the train station. There is a direct train from Copenhagen airport to Helsingør as well as direct trains from Helsingør to Rungsted Kyst (Karen Blixen museum), Nivå (Nivaagaards Malerisamling), Hillerød (Fredericksborg Castle), Humlebaek (Louisiana Museum) and the ferry to Helsingborg, Sweden is only a few blocks away. In Helsingør there is Kronberg Castle (Hamlet) and the M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark, as well as shopping and interesting murals and sculpture to discover around the city. Ulla and Ove, the owners, renovated the building from a total ruin - roof beams caved in, windows missing, etc. There is a book of before photos in the restaurant and it is amazing to compare them with the finished result. Rooms are spacious with attached kitchens, some with private baths, some shared. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfasts are huge and delicious. There is a pleasant courtyard with tables where you can enjoy an afternoon coffee or glass of wine at the end of a day of sightseeing and there is a basket of fleece throws in the hallway if it is chilly. The door to the courtyard is locked and requires a code to open in the evenings and the owners live on the premises, so this is a very safe choice for women...
Read moreThis small bed and breakfast/hotel in a historical building in the heart of Elsinore is most certainly with a visit. The rooms are lovely, and with a vibe of history, there isn't a single straight angle in the newly renovated building, and the place is situated in the city center, close to shopping, restaurants and train station (with direct connection to Kastrup airport). The guesthouse is family-owned, and the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The cafe served mainly organic food with homemade delicacies. The ideal place for exploring the castle of Kronborg and walk in the footsteps of Prince Hamlet. But don't miss a walk of the city and the many well preserved historical buildings. However, no TV in the room and a shared bathroom. But given the price, the vibe and the surroundings, this...
Read moreKyhn's Guesthouse was absolutely perfect, and the best accommodation of our 16 day trip to Scandinavia. The owner/hostess was warmly welcoming, kind and eager to provide helpful information. The design throughout was simple, clean and lovely...beautiful! Rooms were large with attached kitchenette and large bathroom -- ample for an extended stay or wonderful for one night. Bathroom linens were beautiful and luxurious. The down duvet, down pillow and bed linens were sumptuous. The included breakfast, served plate to table, was beautiful and delicious - fresh cooked eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt and home baked rolls. What a pleasure it was to...
