Hostal Casa Real Spa — Hotel in Baños de Agua Santa

To be honest we only booked this hotel as a backup option and made sure it was cancelable as we wanted to see if the prices of the Luna spa came down - as it turns out we were lucky they didn’t. |The staff were so friendly and helpful they really made the experience of Ecuador memorable- not just banos. ||The location could not be better - right beside the waterfall and so close to the hot springs that we would walk back and forth in just towels. ||The food and shopping parts of the town are on the doorstep- and of course all the activities start from there (see separate review). ||There are also some fantastic running trails from the hotel - which reception also helped with (but you can also see on strava) - warning tho - you need to LOVE hills. ||Finally we had massages in the hotel most days - they use an external service which was average to good, but oh so cheap!||The only thing I could fault them on was that the doors to the room and locks were rather flimsy so we were always a bit nervous about our belongings. The rooms were a little run down also, but good for the area, and if you consider the hammock on the balcony etc etc. really an absolutely steal!||Oh - and I nearly forgot the lovely (and again friendly) breakfast on the room...

I've traveled all over the world and this may be one of my favorite places we have ever stayed! We splurged a bit and got one of the suite rooms with Jacuzzi (when I say splurged it was still very affordable lol) The room was incredibly roomy and impeccably clean with a wonderful view. The bed was huge and comfortable. The room also includes a large smart TV, fridge with mini bar, coffee maker, and tea kettle. Our accomodations included breakfast and it was delicious and hosted in an upstairs dining area with a wonderful nearly 360 view of the mountains. The hostel is located in a more serene area of Baños and is a stones throw from the Virgin falls hot springs. The staff is outstandingly helpful! Anything we seemed to need the were able to arrange with pleasure. I also received the best massage I've ever had!!! I highly recommend getting a volcanic stone massage by Marta!!! Marta is the best masseuse...
