Hotel Volcano — Hotel in Baños de Agua Santa

A friend and I rented the apartment in the hotel. The property was clean, the breakfasts were great (only time restaurant is open), the staff was friendly and helpful. ||The next door neighbor was fighting with his wife and extremely loud, when I called the son to complained he would minimize and say it wasn’t happening (even though he was in Quito). ||They lock the property gate at around 11:00-11:30. One morning my friend and I got up to go to the thermal pools at 6:30am, but we found the gates were still locked, no one was at the property and we couldn’t get out. I rang the registration desk bell, went inside the office, I went upstairs to the second floor and called out for someone, went to a shed where supposedly someone stays…nothing, no one was at the property. We were there locked in and had been all night and probably the prior three nights as well. I called the son to tell him we were locked in, he said that was not true. I turned video on to show him that we were locked in, at that moment a female employee drove up in a scooter snuck her hand on the side of the gate (anyone could do that from the outside) and pulled out the key and opened the gate. I was upset and mentioned to the son that there was an earthquake tremor at 3:45am, had it been more serous than it was, or had a medical emergency taken place with us, we wouldn’t have been able to get out. Not to mention anyone could have seen where the “secret” key was stashed and had free reign of the property and its guests. I believe we were the only guests that week until Thursday, November 3. The son became very rude and defensive at my upset and complaint and started gaslighting me, saying that I was being rude to him. The nerve! ||After we returned from the pools, the owners (the son’s parents were waiting for us when we arrived at the restaurant for breakfast, they asked how we were and we told them how upset we were at being left licked in this place all night and their son’s behavior, they apologized and said that the father normally stays but that he had not the night before. Anyway, they tried to do damage control, but a little too late. Later in the evening I heard they were saying that the father had been there, but that he was taking a shower, BS! they had already admitted to us that he had not stayed there that night and that we had been there alone locked in the property with no way to get out||I should also mention that they set up tours with a company for the day after we arrived , and the company forgot to pick us up. We were waiting and they had the staff member had yo call the hotel owner to call the tour company, who then sent another company...

There are phantoms/spirits in room 9!!! In the morning The mirror on the wall appeared tilted. During the night the things on the vanity was taken out of the bag and thrown on the floor with a loud sound like if someone threw them on the floor with force. The vanity was also moved. U can hear breathing during the night from the bathroom. The bed was super itchy like if there was chinche. It was a horrible nigh!! I DO NOT...

This rating is based on the alternatives in Banos. It is a very touristy town. The areas and nature Adobe it are great. The town itself...Not so much. The hotel is located far enough off the main drag that noise is not an issue. However it is close enough that you can walk to everything. Our room had a large outdoor space and a great view. The beds are comfortable but in the small size. The bathroom is small, dated, and leaves something to be desired. WiFi was spotty in our room and slow.
