We stayed at the Santa Clara for the off street parking. There are other hotels close by, most of them far more expensive, that didn't have parking available. This is not an issue for those traveling by bus from say, Quito, which is very popular. The hotel is quite old, the bathroom not as tidy as one might expect. Clean, just old and in need of paint and some upkeep. The grounds are very attractive, all of the major attractions close by and the little restaurant for breakfast very cozy and attractive. We paid $44 for the two of us. The television was cable and very limited for English language stations.||||I would like to point out that one block North on the corner is another hotel, Eli I think it was called. Ana Maria looked at a room, said it was much nicer and they were $25 per person, so not much more than we paid. However, they have been battling since August 2015 to get Visa authorized. On the first floor is a Pancho Villa Mexican Restaurant. That may not sound exciting to travelers, but to two people who have been living in Ecuador for four years, good Mexican food is hard to find and this was well received. It was good and the prices reasonable, very nice setting. I did not see and so cannot confirm nor deny that they have...
Read moreSpent one night here in a basic, comfortable double room. The bathroom is showing its age and could certainly use some updating, but everything worked just fine. Cable TV had a ton of channels. The garden of the hotel is beautiful and the flowers smell amazing. Breakfast is available but not included. You can hear a bit of noise from other guests talking outside/closing doors but it is minimal and not disruptive. There is a parking area available.||||The owner/concierge was extremely helpful. We arrived early in the day and he showed us some different rooms and allowed us to pick which one we wanted. He also took some time to show us the map of Baños and give us some tips on where to go. Very friendly guy to chat with.||||I think this part of Baños is the nicest part to stay in. It is close to all the restaurants and bars (a few blocks), but just far enough away to be very quiet at night. We walked home from the bar late at night with no problems, very safe. The hotel is right next to some swimming complexes and a couple blocks from the Virgen waterfall/shrine/thermal baths. You can actually see and hear the waterfall from the hotel!||||Overall, not the most modern place but good for a night or two, and...
Read moreThis is a no frills little motel that had the nicest staff. The holiday pricing for us was $36.00 per night about twice their usual rate. We had a clean private room. Parking is a bit dodgy but secure.||||The breakfast was wonderful way better than the $200-400 Luna Runtun. Restaurant was good and they have added an ice cream parlor on the front motel. ||||The biggest negative is the noise. The dinosaur park is across the street. So T-rexes are roaring all day long. There used to be a park across the street that is now a big construction site so the neighborhood is changing check the newest reviews for updates. ||||I highly recommend Villa Santa...
