ITZA Hotel Boutique Internacional — Hotel in Cuenca

What an amazing experience. From the moment you make your reservation, till the day after you checkout, you are treated like royalty. We received a warm welcome upon arriving, along with a nice glass of fresh squeezed blackberry juice, which is my favorite. Checking in was easy and we were given a small tour up to our room. Once inside our Queen suite, the surprises kept coming. Amazing room, with a balcony that had a street view was the cherry on top. We had forgotten our tooth paste, but within a minute of calling the front desk, we had the dental kit in our hands, along with slippers. Moving on to dinner, we went to the the Rooftop Zaza 360 lounge. The staff was very accommodating, and made great recommendations. We enjoyed a great view of the Cathedrals, while sipping some house cocktails that did not disappoint. If you like whiskey, go for the Mi Santo Domingo house cocktail, you will thank me. What a delicious, well crafted drink. The food was amazing, and beautifully plated. After dinner and a good night sleep, thanks in large part to their blackout curtains, we were on our way towards breakfast, which is included in our stay. Breakfast in Santo Placer restaurant on the ground floor was magnificent. Some of the freshest mango juice I have had in years, unfortunately we cant get it this good in the US. We enjoyed some their house special breakfast, with some really great tasting coffee. Also, the fact that they offered Stevia was a huge plus for me as it was the only packet of Stevia I found in Ecuador. We were sad to leave, but I am glad to say that I look forward to staying there again real soon. The location is close to everything, and if you need to travel, you are a block away from the Tranvia, which is a small train that cant take you around the city. We absolutely loved Itza. So so many good things about this place including location Lobby entry safety and very friendly staff. The food was great we enjoyed our visit tremendously and will certainly plan on staying here again so many amazing things including the rooftop restaurant. Just amazing! * a few minor things to enhance This Place Management please listen the showers have ceramic floors in our very, very, very slippery. There needs to be something done as far as safety strips. They did put some safety strips but not enough it's very potentially dangerous.

• the temperatures are relatively cool and comfortable but if you're hot and injured please know this wonderful place does NOT have air conditioning... also we asked the front desk about the local jazz club we heard about.... the female attendant said there are no jazz clubs in Cuenca.... we walked out of the door of Itza and walked for approximately 2 minutes and we saw the jazz club with big letters on a sign a very short distance from Itza.... perhaps they could be better trained on helping guide customers to the local attractions especially when they're that easy. Not to close the review in the negative tone but a few things that need to be noted. This is a great place you definitely got to try it out. We will go back again. See pictures of shower floor where we had to put a towel and to keep us from falling. Also we did some hotter days where they had to bring air conditions in the rooms. There's also a sign that says do not throw toilet paper in the toilet so it was interesting figuring out how to dispose of toilet paper after it has been used .... highlights centrally located, save with outstanding staff amazing rooftop restaurant in beautiful breakfast...

Visiting from Florida USA. We have stayed in many upscale hotels and ITZA is truly special. From the moment you arrive( Front Desk Cecilia and Christian make you feel that you have arrived. The rooms are beautiful; very high ceilings, spectacular bathroom, balcony with well-insulated for sound. The breakfast at Santo Placer is a true delicacy. Great service by Adriana and Valeria. Awesome coffee as well. Upstairs at ZaZa Rooftop we enjoyed a spectacular 360 degrees view as well as great cocktails by Ronald and service by Salome. This hotel in Miami Beach would be $1K per night. The location is close to everything but a block back of the congestion. What a classy...
