Hotel Morenica del Rosario — Hotel in Cuenca

From the minute we arrived, we couldn’t say enough good things about the staff—they were just extraordinary. ||On that basis, I would have given the hotel five stars, but we had a few minor complaints that brought the rating down to four stars. ||There was some wallpaper pulled off the wall (see photo) in our bedroom that could easily have been fixed with a corner strip or extra glue. ||The Internet didn’t work well (which the hotel might not have had a direct responsibility for). ||Finally, my biggest grievance: out of 50+ cable tv channels (including movie channels) there was only ONE channel in English. No channels with English subtitles—and no news in English or with English subtitles. In a large expat destination city that Cuenca is, that really frustrated me. The guys at the front desk are really nice and very pleasant. There is always tea and coffee available in the front lobby.||||Our room was on the first floor towards the back. It was large, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is a little on the small side but is very clean. They have Type A outlets and 110 voltage. There is a hair dryer in the room.||||The included breakfast is filling: scrambled eggs, fruit, breads, juice and cereal. It is buffet style so it is plentiful.||||The hotel is close to the historic center and is easy walking to restaurants, bars and stores.||||I would recommend this hotel and would stay...

I really liked the aesthetic of the building. However our room was a little dated and crowded. There wasn't much room to move around, it was oddly laid out and the sheets had some stains on them that we just chose to ignore. The breakfast was decent, if lacking in options, but the ladies running it did a good job. The front desk staff was hit or miss. Perhaps it was the language barrier, but there were no greetings when we passed the desk unless we engaged them. The best part of the hotel is the location.
