This hotel is absolutely beautiful, unique and a breath of fresh air after mostly staying in the cookie cutter hotels that all look the same.||The architecture, furnishings and artwork are stunning. Our room had a little balcony outside (it was too cold to use it, but we enjoyed looking at it), a beautifully tiled sitting area, and a gorgeous bathroom with a giant shower and claw foot bathtub. There was a nook downstairs for coffee and tea, as well as a wood paneled library. The hotel is even more beautiful than what you see in photos.||There is a restaurant, but since we were there on New Year's Day, we believe it was closed. We asked the attendant at the front desk, but they didn't speak English. Normally I wouldn't point this out - we're the ones visiting a foreign country and I don't expect anyone to speak English... but there is an informational sign in the room noting that all their employees speak English. The attendant was very kind, and tried to guide us in the right direction of a restaurant that was open (we didn't find it though and wound up at McDonald's). Not...
Read moreThis is a beatuful small hotel fully restored from an old manor house. It oozes character and charm and is a very welcome change from the bland large chains. The staff were very attentive and service excellent. My room was large and even had a small entrance area with sofa to relax. Also had a bathtub rather than just shower. The hotel has lovely decor and there were vases of roses throughout. I only had breakfast here which were set menus brought to your seat rather than a buffet. They were nothing too special but perfectly adequate. The hotel is right beside the Artisan Market Mariscal and barely even a 5 minute walk. There are also nice restaurants nearby as well as KFC and McDonalds along from the market.|My only slight problem is it's distance from the colonial centre, eg basilica and Jesus & English churches which I needed a taxi trip for as...
Read moreWe used the hotel as a base for our travels around Ecuador. We were able to leave luggage we didn’t need for our short trips and had a lovely welcome each time we came back - like coming home! ||We had a standard room - very comfortable bed, very clean and enough space for the constant packing and repacking. Mugs of tea and coffee available all day from early morning and they prepared a packed breakfast for us when we had an early start. ||Our first night we ate in the library and the food was delicious. ||All of the staff are the sweetest nicest people who could not do enough for us. It really feels like a family rather than a hotel. ||In a good position walking distance to the Artesenal market for cheap souvenirs and to lots of restaurants. Very easy to take a short taxi ride to the Old Town for a couple of dollars. ||Canniot recommend...
