Hostal y Complejo Recreacional La Playita de Monse — Hotel in Otavalo

Avianca did not get our checked bags onto the connecting plane on time, so they arrived in Quito after we arrived in Otavalo. And they did not arrive for 2.5 days!! Luis, the owner and manager along with his nice wife Blanca, stayed on them to get the damned bags to us. He really went the distance to help with that and every other little request we had, despite being busy running this spa. Now I'll review the hostel.||Clean. All areas were very clean, all the time. Linen service is daily. Breakfast is scrambled, eggs, goat cheese, a natural juice, roll with butter and jam, instant coffee. In addition to a pool, there is a dry sauna, a steam room, hot tub, cold dipping tank. Some rooms have private bath. Our water was HOT when it was hot but sometimes became inexplicably cold. I would turn it all off, turn on, then it would work. The rooms are on the 3rd floor, no elevator. The hostel is 3 blocks from action, 4 from the bus station, 7 from the famous market-----easy walk and interesting, tho cabs are always available. Luis picked us up and delivered us to the airport, for a fee. I think you could do that on the public buses, but my wife was not willing to take the chance. Luis has English, but barely. I have...

We booked this on line and were extremely surprised at the amenities. The breakfast was good. The swimming pool was great for kids and adults. The hosts, Luis and Blanca, cannot do enough to help. The slightest problem is taken care of straight away, anything you need is there. They have a small shop as part of the hotel with swimsuits, swim rings, goggles and many other treats. Luis took us on a trip to see a few of the different sights even though he is very busy. The market is about a seven minute walk away and the animal market is about the same. If I was to go back to Otavalo this would be my number one choice. Cannot think of anything I didn't like. Loved the communal seating areas...

This is a perfect hotel for families. The children can happily and safely play in the pool while doing whatever they want nearby. The owner, Luis is super friendly and I'm glad that I met him. He can happily arrange any tours for you that you may need. The hotel is centrally located near Peguche Falls and only a few blocks from the center of the city & the artisanal market. Luis was even kind enough to let me check out late and leave my puppito so I could do some shopping...
