Let's start with the positive, this is one of the few resorts that has a sandy beach, other beaches have a rocky start and then you get to the sand part. Furniture is great in comparison with other hotels but the mattresses should be a bit softer, I am a side sleeper and the mattresses are hard enough that it affected blood circulation lol. Now to the bad parts, we originally reserved our stay at Tirana but we got feedback that the furniture and food at the Swiss Inn was better so we cancelled Tirana and reserved the Swiss Inn which was more expensive than Tirana but we choze qualityover price, biggest mistake we could have done. The food quality was horrible, breakfast buffet was ok but nothing special. Dinner buffet was a joke, the meats were very very low quality that it had a bad smell to it. We complained on the first day, the improved on the second day, the third day was bad the fourth was back to the horrible start. Even the extra charge burgers were almost 20% meat and the rest God knows what, probably soy bean. The animation team didn't exist. Even though they had mentioned the animation in a letter which was handed to us with the room keys. The water sports booth on the beach "Vetratoria" was something else , we had a question about one of the water sports, trying to know more about it and asked one of the employees who was doing the Activity and on his way out of the water and he just gave us side eye and said The name of the Activity and walked away. Even though non egyptians were getting a better treatment. Customer service is non existent except for a few employees, we had complained on the first day and on the third day and on the final day we got the weird burgers, when we tried to complain to the GM aka our "host" he was rude, started making demeaning facial expressions and waving his hands at us. Completely unprofessional and unbefitting of a Swiss Inn GM. He almost went off on us and had to be put in his place, politely ofcourse. He then said that he would meet us during our check out the next day and during checkout, he said he will refund the burger charges as long as we give them a good review, my uncle said we would do our best to give an appropriate review, hence the second star. On the third night, (during Ramadan) they had a bellydancer, one of the belly dancer's crew stuffed cash in her bra infront of a bunch of kids, again not something you would expect from a respectful resort that hosts families with kids. Overall, the property was well maintained. The staff is inept to say the least. After the first complaint, a staff member told us they improved the food quality and asked us to get up while having dinner and go say thank you to the Food and Beverages Manager, obviously that didn't happen, we educated the staff member that that was something they should have apologized for and its not something that we as a guest need to go and thank them for. Staff members don't even know basic hospitality rules. They interrupted us while talking to them to joke with each other. The staff needs to be trained, the management needs...
Read moreSwiss Inn located south of Dahab town, with its own private beach. The beach is shallow and drop down slowly, make it very suitable for small kids and non swimmers. There are manmade underwater structures at the end of buoy barriers (to provide safe swimming area from boats, wind surfers etc), with healthy corals and coral fish. During my stay, there were report of eagle ray sighting.||The room itself is great, you are given 1.5L mineral water everyday in your room. There are balconies for each room. The bathroom is massive, but the shower itself is small. Well actually, it's the standard size, but they installed a tap in the shower area itself, shrinking the area available by 20-30% - but this is the least of my worry personally.||The breakfast buffet is great, with loads of options. There is a live egg cooking station which I like. Otherwise there are great selections of bread, toast, jams, luncheon, falafel, pancake, cereal etc. Make sure you try the danish pastry - they are really great and fresh orange juice.||The dinner buffet also has good selection of food, you will never get bored. The menu theme changed everyday - like seafood cuisine or international cuisine. Although the breakfast pastry was great, the cakes at dinner was the opposite. They look great, but don't taste as it look. The only great thing from desert section is their baklava.||There are small shop and pharmacy near the hotel - turn left when you left the main gate, it's only 5 minutes walk.||There is a shuttle service from hotel to Dahab town - organised by the hotel. However if you don't want to wait, there are many taxi outside the gate. It cost around 100 to 150 Egyptian Pound one way and take around 7 minutes. The Dahab promenade is very touristy, but not as bad as Naama Bay in Sharm. ||There are multiple water sport providers at the hotel: windsurfing, SUP, wingfoil etc.||If you speak English or German and want to dive, Extra Diver Worldwide diving centre at the hotel is the perfect place to go. Silvie, Rene and Kari are good instructors and you will enjoy your dive with them, regardless of your diving skill level. If you speak Russian / Ukranian, please ask the reception for recommendation of dive centre that speak the language.| |If you are a muslim and want to attend congregational prayer during your stay - there is a small mosque called Madina Masjid (not in Google Map) behind Gazala supermarket (in Google Map) - about 7-10 minutes walk. There is also a bigger mosque called al -Kawthar mosque also not that far - you'll see the minaret. Simply walk across the the sandy pitch right in front...
Read moreThe Swiss Inn is branded as a 4 Star hotel but I would argue itâs closer to a 3. For starters entering our room I was happy that the AC worked well but at times would wake up in the morning sweating even though it was on the lowest setting. The bed was hard as a rock and lacked the comfort needed for stomach or side sleepers. The only option was sleeping on my back. The room had a nice view so no complaints there. Letâs talk food. The Breakfast was pretty standard, nothing really jumped out at me as being delicious or exemplary. The dinner was extremely hit or miss. Some days it was amazing and really tasty while others I could barely find anything in the buffet that was ok. The other thing was that during dinner your only option for free drinks was water. Any other drink including juices or sodas or even lemonade you had to pay extra for. It was not ideal but we made it work. The room service also disappointed me as one night I had the munchies as decided to call and order a cheeseburger. They told me it would take 10 minutes but I was kept waiting for longer than an hour. Finally I called back to find out that the gentleman who took my order left and never prepared the order or told the chef to prepare it. I was extremely disappointed even though they decided to make it. The beach was beautiful and I was satisfied with the hotels devotion to keeping it clean. There was only a few gentleman on the beach taking drink or food orders so I wished that there were more so you didnât have to wait 10 - 15 minutes to order something. The activities on the property were nice and the staff in charge of activities were very encouraging and polite. They would come around and inform us about what event was going on that we could join such as beach volleyball or dancing. Overall I was slightly disappointed with our stay especially given how expensive our room was and not having a comfortable bed, and hit or miss dinners left me feeling like I overplayed for my stay. In all fairness Dahab is an up and coming area. A few years ago there wasnât any property about a 3 star so I can understand that these things take time but the reason that I opted to stay in a 4 star and pay extra was because I thought I would get my moneys worth. Turns out at the moment it seems itâs a better option to stay in a 3 star and rough it for the affordability and location convenience especially because getting a taxi in the area of the hotel was a nightmare and very scarce. If I return to dahab thatâs my plan as these 4 star hotels need time to improve in a...
