My review is concerning the guest harbour, where we stayed 3 nights in July 2022.
The Pärnu Yacht Club is the only option if you want to visit Pärnu by sailboat. It provides good piers with buoys, drinking water and electricity available on the piers.
Unfortunately there are some points to be aware of: The piers are located directly in the river and there are no jetties/breakwater outside of the piers. The speed limit and no waves signs are often not respected, so be prepared to some noice and waves from the passing boats. The harbour guide indicates 34 guest places. However, the club has taken big part of the guest pier to the club members, so there is clearly less places for guest boats. Prebooking of a spot was not possible for guest boats. During our arrival we were instructed to outside of the pier (more exposed to wind & waves) whereas half of the inside was empty, but "should be kept empty for arriving club members". Guest boats are clearly of a lower priority. The nearby bulk cargo harbour is loading vessels with peat & wood chips, which are stored in uncovered piles. In case of typical W-SW winds, be prepared your boat is covered with this brown dust. We heard this is a persistent problem for years, but still unmanaged. The promised septic waste emptying is a mobile system, which has too short hose from pier to the end of the boat. Therefore the emptying was not possible for us, and is available only during the harbour crew is there. You can wash laundry in the Yacht Club, but this is with one normal household machine, and unlike expected, there are no dryers available. A warm recommendation to use the self service laundry "Kliin" next to Kaubamajakas shopping centre. They have professional machines and dryers, flexible opening hours, and it is even cheaper what they charge in the harbour. There is a free shuttle bus service from the harbour (bus stop "Viking") to the shopping centre, where you can fill your food storages as well. Wifi is not working at the piers, saunas are heated only when separately ordered with an additional fee, crew is not available all the time, they were not delivering the promised information...
All in all we got the feeling the yacht club cannot deliver what they have promised, and customer service approach was missing. Pärnu is such a lovely summer city, and would deserve a better...
Read moreA bit different hotel offering interesting location right in the middle of a marina. Review based on a one night stay in July (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe). ||Location:|The hotel is located somewhat outside the main “activity areas” but still within walking distance to the main sights of the city, e.g. Pärnu Museum is roughly 750m away and walk to the beach is less than 2km. The immediate neighborhood is mostly residential. ||Room:|We had a basic room, which was renovated not long ago. So everything was clean with no signs of usage. Bathroom though was stuck in the 80s but that was basically just a visual issue as such. ||No air conditioning in the room, luckily it wasn’t that warm in Parnu. ||Very little noise from the other rooms or street. ||Etc:|The breakfast buffet was very decent, with enough variety of both warm and cold offerings. The restaurant looked quite nice, unfortunately we didn’t have time to test it apart from the breakfast. ||There are a few parking places for the hotel in the marina area, behind a barrier. And quite a lot of parking places available in the streets nearby. ||Check-in & out were efficiently handled. ||Would I return there?|Yes sure, it’s a somewhat...
Read moreI just read a number of the reviews that mentioned the lack of air conditioning. My stay probably would have been quite different, then, in summer. But I was here on a blustery, cool and rainy day in September, so that didn't matter. It's a great spot, close to downtown, but tucked away on a quiet street. The rooms are very basic, but have a good, firm bed and good sound insulation, so I was happy. I had dinner, and though it's end of season, the meal was outstanding- I had shrimp and salmon creme soup and an interesting arugula/cheese/pomegranate salad. The ladies working checkin and the restaurant were helpful and fun, and even though I arrived by bicycle I loved playing with the other guests dogs- and like a place that allows them! Breakfast wasn't spectacular, but it was definitely better than some have mentioned.|I'd stay here again....if it wasn't...
