Lydia Koidula monumendi autor on skulptor Amandus Adamson. Monumendi üheksast tükist koosneva aluse hall graniit on toodud Soomest, pronksist kuju valati Itaalias, Pistoia linnas. Monument valmis ja avati pidulikult 9 juunil 1929 aastal. Raha monumendi rajamiseks saadi annetustest ja koguti korjandustega. Osa rahast annetas riigivanem. Sammas koos purskkaevu, seda ümbritseva müüri ja muude kulutustega läks maksma 1350053 senti. Ausamba platsi projekteerisid arhitektid Nürnberg...
