BENTARK Hotel — Hotel in Addis Ababa

I’ve stayed in countless hotels during my travels, but this ranks among the worst. From booking deception to health hazards and poor service, it’s a complete disaster.

Deceptive Booking Practices

We booked and prepaid for a connected family room to ensure our toddler and one-year-old could sleep separately. Upon arrival, the front desk claimed we’d been “upgraded” to a single deluxe room—a downgrade costing half the price ($54 vs. $120). When we protested, they admitted no family rooms were available due to a “system error.” We were offered either this room or a transfer to their poorly rated sister hotel. No attempt was made to inform us beforehand, and the staff blatantly tried to spin this as a favor.

Harassment in the Lobby

While trying to resolve this, a drunk guest harassed my wife and kids in the lobby. The staff stood by and did nothing, adding to an already hostile environment.

Moldy Rooms and Unsafe Conditions

We reluctantly stayed in the single room for one night. It reeked of mold, immediately triggering asthma issues for my wife and children. This wasn’t just uncleanliness—it was a health hazard.

Dining Delays

The “24/7” restaurant took over an hour to serve food, and our kids’ meals never arrived despite repeated reminders.

Temporary Relief, But More Issues

We were moved to a family room the next day, which was cleaner and mold-free. However, it was directly under the rooftop nightclub, and loud music made sleep impossible.

Only Bright Spot: Tech Support

The tech manager, Peter, was the one saving grace, providing hotspot devices when the hotel’s Wi-Fi didn’t work.

Final Verdict

This hotel fails spectacularly in professionalism, cleanliness, and guest safety. Between deceptive booking practices, moldy bathrooms, unresponsive staff, and nightclub noise, it’s entirely unsuitable for families.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. From start to finish, the customer service was a perfect 10 out of 10.||||The hotel offers a convenient airport shuttle service, a huge plus. Despite a miscommunication about my arrival time—my flight landed at 6:40 a.m., but I didn't clear customs and reach the meeting spot until 9:00 a.m.—the driver patiently waited the entire time with a sign with my name on it. I felt terrible about the delay, but the driver was incredibly understanding and kind, which set the tone for my stay.||||The rooms were spacious, immaculate, and well-maintained, making for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was the full breakfast included in my booking. It was delicious and provided a great start to each day.||||I booked my stay through Booking.com, and I have to say the entire staff went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcome. Everyone was kind, professional, and attentive, which made my visit even more enjoyable.||||The only downside of my stay was the WiFi. While it worked most of the time, there were moments when the connection was spotty. Bentark Hotel:

Its one of the newest modern hotel in Addis Ababa. The location is perfect and less than five minutes to the airport if there is no jump.

During my four (4) night stay, I had really good time. The hotel is clean! They have neath rooms large enough for yourself. Great breakfast with quite a number of varieties for you to choose from.

They also provide airport shuttle which pick and drop off as complimentary. The reception staff are friendly and professional, thanks to the Manager (the lady) sorry I don't remember her name for her leadership in addressing some few things I had.
