2021

Almost one year later, we went back for our Department party to Paradiso. I was expecting a delicious meal in mind, with having decided on braised lamb at $40. I just wanted to compare my last meal with that of the present. My other colleagues had ordered chicken, beef and pasta.

Again, we were DISAPPOINTED, to say the least, the food we ordered, particularly the quality has gone from bad to worse. It may look good in the picture, but where it matters, it is truly a travesty, in light of how much it costs.

This time the volume of music being played at the whim of the DJ was loud and annoying (with music stopping and starting) as well as the genre of music not suited to the patrons present.

Maybe Paradiso is a Restaurant/Night Club, Dear owner please choose one.

A restaurant should be where people come to enjoy food and company and not be assaulted with noise.

It seems in Fiji people are attracted by loud music into shops, buses, restaurants and other public places or maybe, most of us are deaf.

Getting back to Paradiso, I am rating them a 2 from 3, as of 2020.

Unfortunately, I will not be going to Paradiso for food that is blend and extremely loud music.

2020

The food that I ordered was well done, but not so for my two other colleagues whose Italian food was just too spicy.

The environment is alright, but the live music was just too loud to have a conversation over dinner.

The service provided was good, preparation of food was done within reasonable time.

It is once in a while...

My wife and I went out to dinner with two other couples. We did not make a reservation. We were seated at 6:15pm. We ordered at 6:20pm. My wife and two others in our party ordered a sirloin steak meal. They reach asked for a dinner salad, as one of their sides. Another in our party ordered a salad. Myself and another person ordered a calzone. I originally asked for a Chicken Cordon Bleu meal, one of their 9 main meals that they serve. For whatever reason, it was not available. We waited an hour to be finally be served. The steak meals were cold, and did not come with the salads. The meat was under cooked, even though they all asked for medium. It was more like medium rare. Our calzones arrived 10 minutes after every one else's meals were served. Mine was partially burned on top. They were much more spicy than expected. They contained bongo peppers, which are similar to the Habanero chili pepper. Our waitress never checked on us after taking our orders. We had to get up and approach her to check on the status of our meals. We requested water twice. We had to wait a long time, even for it to be delivered to our table. My wife and I had the same exact meals as one other couple at our table. Yet we got charged $10 more than they did. The cashier seemed unsure how to resolve the problem, but eventually handed me a $10 bill. The setting is nice, but we were sorely disappointed with our experience....

This was my first time at the restaurant and meeting a very close friend of mine after a very long time (7yrs) this was the best spot. We had a great time, although there were some mix up with the pre-orders (sent to someone in a different department so we had to wait awhile). Then with the little misunderstanding the food arrived at the right time but we still had to re-confirm as some food ordered were not served yet. We arrived at 7pm and left a little close to 10pm. Some of the changes we noticed with the same dish that was ordered and brought in on different intervals were the consistency of the taste. For example the first dish served at around 7:30pm had the right proportion of salt and the same dish served at 8pm had no salt at all. But the staff were helpful and they assisted us with the best Service. Their kind gestures kept things at bay. I still would recommend this place provided that when you pre-order your food that its sent to the right department and just follow ups...

Very happy with the service at Paradiso. It's a huge place with al fresco area. There's also fans for when it gets hot. The menu item includes both local and western food items and some pastas and pizzas. We had the smoked salmon pasta with zucchini which was very good! Also had the pan fried mahi mahi with creamy rourou which was nice (although might need some salt). Toilets clean and parking available. When we visited today (Jan 3, 2022), the menu was downsized as compared to the one uploaded in their website. When I asked, the reason was that they have less staff so the menu was reduced too. A bit sad as we were really looking to try the local Fijian food in their menu. Hopefully, they get to it once the restaurant recovers from the pandemic. Lastly, mozzies are ever present especially in the outside seating area. Easily manageable by a good insect repellent spray.

Amazing. Can't believe it's not higher rated. We ate here twice. Enjoying our first meal, beautiful environment, open, airy, mellow live music, views looking out over Albert park, great service, I noticed a chopping board of what looked like meaty-rib-goodness being carried across the room, it looked amazing and was the Thursday special, I was told, and would be on again next week! Food wise, I was able to think of little else all week. So we returned a week later for the 'bits and ribs' special and it was everything I'd imagined. They have an outdoor pizza oven which my wife enjoyed, a variety of local and international dishes cooked to perfection. The prices are on the mid-higher end for Suva restaurants but it is certainly a case here you get what you pay for.

Paradiso is a lovely restaurant with a good view of Albert Park if you sit at the alfresco sitting area. I arrived earlier than their opening time because Google Maps (wrongly) indicated they were already open at 11:00am on a Sunday. However, the staff were super nice despite the inconvenience of my early arrival. They still welcomed me inside and allowed me to order a drink. For the record, they open 11:30am on Sundays. Once the kitchen was open, I ordered beef bolognese and smoked salmon pizza (regular size). Both were delicious! Expect generous servings. Overall a great brunch experience. I would definitely come back again to try the other food offerings.
