This is gonna be a complaint about everything that’s wrong in this hotel.
Arrival: We arrived at the hotel with a car, when driving in the garage it was so tight the car almost didn’t fit through (Audi A6). The parking all over sucked, firstly it took them 5 minutes to open the door to the garage and secondly it showed that there were 3 Parkin places left when in fact there was only one. When arriving at the redemption the worker was pretty nice and the check-in was pretty fast in the end.
The room: We had booked a room for a family of 3 and this already destroyed everything. One of the beds was a armchair that was flapped open, the first problem about it is that it’s not something we had booked, the second problem was that they aren’t mostly that horrible but this armchair bed was in another level. While laying down you could feel the strings on your back. When we went down to the reception to ask for any kind of change of softness for the bed, the reply was (we are fully booked and this is the only thing we have). I can probably guarantee the hotel was not fully booked. The air conditioning didn’t work and we had to sleep in a room that was 26.8°C warm. The rooms Tablet to call the reception wasn’t even charged and when it got charged it wasn’t even working. The room had no mini fridge even tho it’s pretty normal to have in a hotel. There was no WI-FI available. The safety deposit box wasn’t working and to get someone to fix it took a while. The toilet paper was thin as hair and not normal toilet paper. If someone is expecting the room to be cleaned in the morning, I’m sorry to disappoint, but it’s probably not going to happen.
Overall: The elevator was extremely tight/small. The respa was small. The breakfast was pretty good. The breakfast room was extremely tight tho and there was almost no space for anyone to sit.
I’ve been always very satisfied with any kinds of Scandic hotels, but I was sadly very...
Read moreThe reception of us, including our dog, was very warm and welcoming. Our dog received a nice little bag with a toy, snacks and other useful stuff! Great!||The Standard room was the only chance when travelling with a pet. This was somewhat a disappointment because many hotels offer also better categories. The room was small, as expected, but cosy and located nicely by the lift/stairs. The staff told that bigger rooms would be available at Scandic Paasi around the corner. Well, this time we liked to stay by the market square. ||The room temperature was 22,6 C on arrival (too much for a good night's sleep) and we tried to adjust it lower, but the ventilation+temperature system on the wall did not help, even when the ventilation was turned to maximum. However, there was a table fan in the room and we used that as well. I wonder what the temperature will be in summer?||The breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious. Finnish smoked cheese was nice as was also the beetroot hummus. Yummy! The only fish was a smoked salmon relish salad that was not so inviting because of the mixed texture. I would hope for smoked or gravad (sashimi-like) salmon as such or just a few jars of wonderful Finnish herring.||The visit was enjoyable. The location of the hotel is very good, metro and trams close and you get quickly to the centrum even by foot. We paid a visit to the Hakaniemi market hall (wonderful delicacies and gifts) and a nearby music shop that's a treasure trove for LP and...
Read moreHad booked for 2 nights 4 months ago. Unfortunately due to a Finnair problem which saw us stuck in Beijing for 24 hours.. which is a totally different review.. we arrived in Helsinki one day later.. when we arrived at the hotel.. after 3 days of wearing the same clothes no showers and sleeping on airport floors.. the girl at the hotel desk said our reservation had been cancelled.. because we didn’t turn up on the first night.. I explained we were in Beijing.. no internet phone connection no luggage etc... eventually she allowed us to stay.. but the double room I had booked and paid for had been given to someone else and we were given a lower price smaller room with 2 single beds.. after I discovered this I went back to reception and told them of my booking etc.. and the comment was that the hotel was fully booked and no more rooms available.. rude, double dipping and totally not reading my already high level of distress from the 3 days of horrendous travel.. no apologies.. I have stayed at this hotel many times before and never had this happened.. new management perhaps??? If the case.. they have no idea.. won’t be staying there again.. and BTW.. towels were line thin sandpaper.. sorry.. one star is...
