When I booked this hotel, I knew it was a budget hotel. I mean, it says that right in the name: Ibis Budget. However, I guess I wasn't mentally prepared for it to be a BUDGET hotel. Thus, I should review this place based on what it is, not what I thought it was going to be.
My room was very clean and relatively quiet (there's construction going on across the street, which is completely out of anyone's control). Everything in the room is very minimal. There are no hand towels in the bathroom, no tissues (just toilet paper), and no closet (just six hangers on the wall). Basically, you get the essentials but that's it. Nothing more, but nothing less. Could there be morw conveniences offered? Sure, but remember that this is a budget hotel, so for what it is, this place is very nice. The bed was comfortable enough, my room was spacious enough, and they offer carafes of filtered water that you can take to your room. And they have good (and free) wifi service.
This hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Gare d'Amiens and the center of the city. It's not far at all, but it can feel like a bit of a hike if you have luggage with you. It's situated in sort of an odd spot among a neighborhood with housing, as opposed to near shops, restaurants, and busy areas like most hotels. But again, this is a budget hotel.
One thing that sets this place apart, however, is the terrific service. All the workers I encountered working at the front desk have all been very friendly and wonderfully helpful. The housekeeper was very friendly as well. The staff here really need to be recognized for their work.
For pet owners, this place allows pets for a very reasonable fee (5...
Read moreThis hotel made me leave €100 deposit( as I payed cash) in case I destroyed the room and I nearly wanted to as it reminded me of the time when I worked on a big building site with Irish guys and we were staying in a hotel and they drank lots of beer and came home one Saturday night and completely destroyed the place: they were sacked on the Monday morning and the company had to pay to get the room redone so I was thinking that I might destroy this room as well for only €100 but I only drank 4 pints and I'm sure the Irish lads would have had at least 10 or 15 but in any case this hotel is quite good the rooms are very nice. They wouldn't give me my €100 back so I could pay for the breakfast until they had inspected the room. The breakfast is cheap and reasonable and the staff are quite good as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wanted to stay in close to the center and wanted to walk around. It's an upclass F1 hotel. This is the cheapest, nicest hotel within walking distance from the center. The prices go up the weekends which annoys me with one of those signs at the front so the receptionist can put the prices up when you stop your car in front and pull your suitcase from the boot. I'll be back: hopefully...
Read moreYou can't fault a budget hotel when all you need is a comfortable bed and a good hot shower at the end of the day. The breakfast looked pretty decent although did not partake. Top location. Free parking on the streets. Brilliant restaurant Ô Jardin 7 minutes walk away. At the beginning of Les Hortillonages, a unique market garden area. Close to a big Match supermarket and the centre gare, main train station. It was clean and the shower had good pressure. You could borrow a hair-dryer. Obviously nothing more than all in one body soap in the shower and handwash at the sink. Bring all other toiletries. Space is tight as you would expect. In the foyer area you could refill water bottles with cold water. In the restaurant area you could fill up with hot water from a coffee machine. There was a microwave too which you could use and sit in the breakfast area to eat your heated up food. Friendly bi lingual staff. A great choice for a...
