Only 10 days prior to our arrival -mid January- we managed to book a 7-day stay on basis of half-board. It was in one word a super experience.||||We had a room, second floor on a corner at the side of the street and could enjoy beautiful morning and evening skies (no problem with the few-only cars passing by)||Start your day with a perfect French breakfast with a croissant or a chocolate croissant, accompanied by a good and fresh café-au-lait or -if you like- a tea.||Two cabin ski-lifts can be found at no more than 200 meters (walkway) from the front door; it giving access to the ski-area of Le Grand Bornand-Chinaillon. ||||After a day ski, returning to the hotel and take a hot wine (“vin chaud”) of superb quality, prior to returning into the room for a shower of a bath.||Rooms are sufficiently in size and are very well decorated with good quality beds and clean sanitary, all looked after by a superbly “operating” housekeeping team.||||The dinner of mostly 5 courses (sometimes a bit too much for us) is prepared by a creative chef and served by an enthusiastic team. They showed to have pleasure in their job!||||The Après-ski of Grand Bornand cannot keep pace with other “famous” places (we did not miss it), but the nice and cozy atmosphere in the hotel(bar) replaces it. And what else would you want: an open-air jacuzzi with drinks served from the hotelbar!||||||Les Ecureuils is, without any doubt, a place where we will return, for holidays in either...

Really close to the bubble, warm boot room with lockers, a sauna and outdoor jacuzzi with mountain views for end of day relaxing (bookable, free, daily for your privacy / personal use). A generous and tasty self-serve breakfast with lots of choice. ||Beautifully added lounge areas and a cool bar. Sunny outdoor terrace for lunch or apres. We ate in the restaurant one evening and had the best raclette I can recall. ||We had a recently renovated room which was very pleasant indeed. Modern whilst still Savoyard in style. A stylish bathroom with decent products and a great balcony. Note not all rooms are yet modernised. Check if that bothers you.||The owners look after all details personally and it shows. Many areas have artwork by Nadege which really is very good indeed and adds to a sense of care taken. Nadege also responds v quickly to email with advice and info in advance. ||Very likely we will return in a...
Read moreAs a family of four, we spent 3 nights at Hotel les Ecureuils for a ski trip at Grand Bornand and La Clusaz. The hotel could hardly be closer to the main Rosay telecabine and adjacent ski hire shops (literally 2 mins walk). For getting to La Clusaz it's a bit more complicated and requires 2 buses (Inter-Station from Rosay to La Clusaz bus station, then a local connector). The highlight of our stay was the food. 5 course meals on two of the nights and a traditional raclette on the third. Stylishly served with an extensive choice of wine. The rooms were a little small but as we were on an active outdoor holiday it didn't matter. The hotel directly overlooks the main road and could not be called 'green', but it was very quiet and private all the same. The pool closes for the winter. We didn't use the hot tub or sauna so can't comment. There is a games room and ski lockers in the basement, with internal access directly to the...
