Chalet-Hôtel La Chemenaz, The Originals Relais — Hotel in Bonneville

The facilities at this hotel are generally quite nice, it has a pleasant lounge area, a nice patio area and attentive staff at the bar. ||The half board dinner was a big disappointment though, on a couple of fronts. We were early to the restaurant, amongst the first to be seated and a large party were seated just behind us soon after. They were very noisy and the restaurant was still largely empty so we asked if we could move to another table. This was declined on the basis that they were fully booked. I tried to point out that we were't trying to take a larger table, just one further from the large party behind us, and that some of those other table bookings would overlap less with the large party. That just got the same refusal response. By the time we left, those other tables were still empty, which suggests the restaurant staff were being unnecessarily inflexible, perhaps just couldn't be bothered. The food itself was well presented (for the most part) but we all found it bland. Perhaps they try harder for you if they haven't already...

The front desk manager gentleman was rude from the moment we checked in to when we left the next day. Hotel property was ok except a broken shower in one of our rooms.

At checkin he was rude and dismissive when there was an error in the type of room we booked.

At breakfast he accused our group of stealing food not once but twice! The first time one of our group used a paper napkin to wrap up dried mango hiking snacks we purchased - he accused us of stealing food. The second time I was filling my water bottle with water from the breakfast buffet and he accused me of stealing tea!

Then at checkout he literally lectured us on what a bad group we were because we took too long to choose our dinner main courses and because we took too long to bring our bags down to our van driver (not related to hotel in any way).

There were additional incidents with him and his dismissive demeanour during our stay was rude and unacceptable the entire time, it was literally like an episode of...

I enjoyed my stay here very much. The receptionist was very helpful when I needed to figure out transportation to another town, walking me through several options. Also, I had a few hours to spare and they were so kind as to let me use the pool while I waited, even after I checked out. The dinner was fantastic and the service was exceptional. The rooms were clean, the views spectacular, the showers very hot and the beds very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Side note - I have read some of the (negative) reviews here and let me just say, you get what you give people! Be kind and accept responsibility for your own actions. We, as travelers, should also be accommodating to the culture of the countries we visit and be nice to those who work in customer service.
