Chalet CAF is a quaint place a few minutes’ walk from the TMB; we arrived truly aching and exhausted, having walked from Refuge des Mottets that day. We had a shared room with two other bunks, adjacent to another room with a few bunks, so there was a bit of commotion, but that was to be expected. What surprised us the most was the quality of food we were served. I’m still thinking about that curry, which she made with and without meat, to accommodate me and another vegetarian. I was also pleasantly surprised to find an IPA, which I enjoyed with my dinner. Sonja and her husband (?) were kind and wonderful hosts. Read moreThis was a great refuge on the TMB path.|Don't make the same mistake I did - I couldn't find the refuge in town so just walked around for ages and eventually found where it was after walking down to the river and up again. After a long days hiking it was awful realising if I had of just stuck to the main road I would have come across it! So don't stray off the main road to get there, it's not worth the extra hills.||Dorms were comfy, no locks but it is so small it feels safe enough. ||Food was excellent. ||Shower was hot. ||There is plenty of room on clothes horses outside to dry wet clothes/air things but put things out early cos when the sun sets it gets...
Read moreWe were not able to reserve a room for 4 of us so we had to share our sleeping spaces with 4 other hikers. However, Alex and his wife were the best hosts who cooked a fantastic dinner with soup, rice and chicken curry (all you can eat) and capped it off with lime pudding. Alex helped us with shipping unnecessary stuffs to our final destination. Because of the rain so we were not sure we could reach our next destination on time, Alex also called and reserved spaces for us at another refugio ahead of our destination. He was always available to answer our questions even though he was working in the kitchen.||Thank you...
