My friends and I stayed here very early on in our TMB journey and have not stopped talking about the beautiful, modern accomodations and the unparalleled levels of hospitality. It was a true highlight of our trip.
First of all, the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. We were delighted upon check in to find comfortable beds (bordering on luxurious), and AC cooled rooms. We did not pay for the living room space and still found our accomodations large enough for three. The bathroom spaces were modern and deeply appreciated after tough hikes.
The breakfast and picnic lunches were some of the best on our trip. We often compared our other meals to the standard set by Chalet Nant Rouge; it was infrequent that any other refuge meal came close to the quality we experienced here.
Finally, but most importantly, the owners are some of the kindest, most thoughtful people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They were full of excellent suggestions for the local area (restaurants, activities) and even offered to set up reservations. They had spot on knowledge of the TMB and helped us assess timing and difficulty. I would be remiss if I didn't mention how unbelievably kind they were when one of our party fell ill. Our friend developed a fever and could no longer continue on. Not only were the owners helpful in setting up continued accomodations until her flight home, but they brought her food, offered to bring her medicine and assisted in transporting her to the train station. Kindness like this is a rarity and you will be lucky experience it yourself. Book this chalet...
Read moreMy group stayed here while hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc in the second half of Sept 2025. Overall, our experience was excellent. The owner and his wife were fantastic hosts, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant. they had a good system in place for gear storage, which allowed you to dry your shoes/boots and hang up any wet gear in a secure room. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and they were thoughtful in the use of space. Breakfast was available the next morning; the quality of the food was good, and the scope of offerings was in line with what we found at other places (meat, cheese, good bread, cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee and juice). a 'picnic' lunch was available for purchase, and I was again pleased with the quality of food provided (ham and cheese sandwich on fresh baguette). A washer and dryer were available for use, which came in handy. The next morning, the owner even offered to drive us to the trail head which saved us an hour of boring road walking. Thanks...
