Chalets Hideaway I — Hotel in Bonneville

I’ve waited some time to leave this review as we were told a partial refund was coming our way — but of course, that never happened.

We booked Hideaway 1 & 2 nearly a year before our wedding (June 21st, 2025). The location is stunning, right at the bottom of Grand Montet and just around the corner from our venue at L’Argentero. It felt like a dream come true to have the groom’s side in Hideaway 1 and the bride’s side in Hideaway 2. We had written confirmation that both were booked back in August 2024 — so we thought we had nothing to worry about.

Then, less than two weeks before the wedding, everything fell apart. We were told that Hideaway 1 had now been taken over by the new manager, Rachel, and that the groom and groomsmen would need to find alternative accommodation during one of the busiest weekends of the year (Fête de la Musique). With everywhere else booked up, we had no real choice but to scramble.

It didn’t stop there. The day before we were due to move in, we were suddenly told the price had increased by seven times the agreed rate — and that we’d only get half the property, with one less bedroom than promised. One more of our wedding party was left without a room, and had to pay for a last-minute place elsewhere. With no options left, we paid the inflated price.

When we arrived, the chalet was in an appalling state: it hadn’t been cleaned, the hot tub was filthy, there was no linen, no toilet paper, no towels, and the swimming pool pump was broken. When we raised this, we were told we were wrong and that everything was in place — until we sent video proof. Only then did a lovely girl called Tate arrive with a team to fix things. To be clear: this was not Rachel. She did nothing to resolve the issues other than later turning up to ask if the hot tub was okay - after it had already been cleaned by someone else.

The whole experience was needlessly stressful in what should have been the happiest week of our lives. Rachel’s selfishness and dishonesty were staggering — she knowingly took over half of our pre-booked accommodation, massively overcharged us, left the property in a disgraceful condition, lied about fixing it, and then pocketed the refund we were promised.

The scenery is incredible, but the management is absolutely appalling. Do not trust Rachel, and do not book here if you value...

We spent few lovely days with friends and family where we had a memorable stay. This quaint & superbe chalet surrounded by the stunning nature and facing the mountain “Mont Blanc“ is just few step away from the well know ski station “Les grand montets”, the location is perfect. There are many activities to do in winter as well as in summer. The chalet includes a jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna perfect after an intensive day of ski where you can relax. It’s also near to Chamonix city and 3 minutes drive away from the best France’s bakery ( Indeed they were awarded) l’Alpain, the pastries there are delicious. The hosts Chanou and her wife Camille were super helpful, friendly and always on the ball , ready to answer any request we needed. All in all I highly recommend this chalet, everything is combined to make you have a mesmerizing moment. We will comeback there for...

We spent a wonderful time between friends and family and we cannot recommend a better place! Camille and Channe made us feel at home and did their best to accommodate our needs. Communication was easy and their recommendations were perfect. The location is stunning and very practical (next to the Panda's Ski school). The heated swimming pool and jaccuzzi is the perfect extra you need after a long day outside! The chalet is such a warm and wonderful place it has been hard to leave for everyone and we will come back...
