Manoir d'Amaury — Hotel in Forcalquier

I was passing through Gréoux-les-Bains, on a road trip with my wife and daughter, from Avignon to Antibes. My wife researched the internet and chose this Chambre d'hôtes (bed and breakfast) - what a find! Mind you, you have to have a good sat nav to actually find it! (in fairness, the house is only 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of the town). The hosts, Vanessa and Christophe, are charming, very welcoming and friendly and not at all intrusive. Christophe speaks excellent English and Vanessa does fantastic breakfasts! She makes her own jams, yogurts and brioche bread, all of which are lovely; we bought some of the jam! Vanessa is also a good artist, witnessed by some of her paintings on display. The house is an old Napoleon 111 mansion, so basically mid 19C, but it's lovely and very atmospheric; it stands on a small hill overlooking the river Verdun. We had a family room in the mansard roof, but it was quite large with double bed, and then some wooden steps up to an attic area where there was a single bed. The room was en suite, with a large bathroom and walk in shower. Outside there is a beautiful terrace area, fantastic for breakfasts, and a small swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Vanessa and Christophe gave us a great restaurant recommendation for Le Jardin des Lilas, about a 15 minute walk away in the centre of Gréoux-les-Bains; Vanessa booked the restaurant for us. I've given an overall 4 stars, but this was because Vanessa and Christophe have only recently taken over the mansion and are still renovating it. We spent 5 nights from August the 17 th staying at Le Manoir d'Amaury in Greoux les Bains where we had a great time and enjoyed the hosting skills of our hosts, Mme and Mr Caron. Every morning we were presented with a freshly home-made breakfast in the typical French fashion (home-baked cakes of all sorts, confiture, baguette and so on...).|The property is overlooking the Verdon banks (and breakfast is served right on terrace with a great view over the banks) and retains the charm of a manor from the 19th century. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and the price we paid absolutely reasonable, far better value for money than we had bargained for.|We reccommend this property to anyone travelling across Provence and wish to thank Mme and Mr Caron for their warm hospitality. |Stefano & Cristina -...

Nous avons séjourné 7 nuits au Manoir d'Amaury et nous n'avions tout simplement pas envie de retourner chez nous ! Cette maison napoléonienne entièrement rénovée est un vrai havre de paix. Les chambres y sont très agréables, décorées avec une extrême délicatesse et beaucoup de goût, l’hygiène y est irréprochable, la literie impeccable, les espaces communs (cuisine, salon, terrasse et autres) sont accueillants et parfaitement optimisés. Tout est à votre disposition pour rendre votre séjour charmant et confortable.

Les petits déjeuners très copieux sont faits maison. Nous avons pu déguster tous les matins les brioches, gâteaux, pancakes, cake, clafoutis, yaourts, jus d'orange et confitures de Vanessa qui met beaucoup de bienveillance et d'amour dans chacune de ses préparations culinaires. Les produits sont naturels et majoritairement bio !

Se prélasser au bord de la piscine du manoir a été très appréciable étant donné les fortes chaleurs. Très bien aménagée, la piscine nous a permis de nous installer aussi bien à l'ombre d'un arbre, d'un parasol ou d'opter pour le plein soleil en fonction de nos envies. Nous étions entourés d'un jardin fleuri où les oliviers étaient les maîtres des lieux.

La localisation du Manoir : idéale ! Nous nous rendions tous les jours au bord du Verdon et au village à pied. Cela a été un vrai plaisir en vacances de pouvoir se passer de la voiture un maximum !

Vanessa et Christophe ont eu de belles attentions à l'égard des hôtes (citronnade à la piscine, recherche et mise à disposition de cartes pour effectuer des randonnées alentours, prêt de matériel...et j'en passe ☺).

Enfin, nous avons eu le plaisir de faire connaissance avec Nelson, Balthazar et Nala leur chien et chats aussi adorables et attachants que leurs maîtres.
