I will start with the negatives and move onto the positives. The first impression dealing with the hotel was unfortunately, terrible! I tried to call 'numerous times' before the arrival day however no one answered at the reception. So I called the general custom services number and after 3 attempts they did actually answer. Unfortunately they spoke practically no English at all and were not even slightly interested in helping. I tried to find out some specific information about the hotel I was staying at and they simply told me to contact the hotel reception (which I couldn't do because no one answered!) After several attempts over the next couple of days I finally got hold of someone on reception. I asked about parking, they basically said best of luck if you find a place take it. Also, they have a very late check in time of 5pm! I said I am travelling quite a distance, if I arrive earlier can I check in. They said no. Period. I said what about an hour earlier, 4pm instead of 5pm. They just said no. No reason, not polite... just 'no'. Honestly I dont think I have ever received such rude bad service from a hotel.||Moving onto the the hotel. One negative to be aware of is there are insufficient elevators for the amount of guests! So if you are on a higher floor expect to always walk the stairs! The lifts are never available and there is always a very long and frustrating wait.||Also the area immediately out of the hotel where you ski from is icy and they dont grit the area at all. During my week there I saw several people slip. One from our group slipped and hurt his back. This is avoidable and a shame.||Final negative is the bar staff. They're friendly enough but clearly not trained very well. They dont really care about what service they provide. Also, ff you ask them a question they either dont know or dont have any interest at all. ||I want to provide a full and honest review therefor I think its important to highlight all the positive points clearly. The hotel is great for its location and ideal for everyone from couples, families or groups. The bar area is huge, with small apre ski snacks daily. The swimming pool is great with a swim out area also, which is fun. The rooms are clean and spacious enough (although note they room cleaning can happen any time of the day up to 5pm....). Unfortunately they dont have a sauna. If they do then its included in the spa and at an extra cost. This is unusual for a ski resort. ||The food was great! especially for a large hotel catering for a large number of guests, they really did a good job! The quality was good and you wont ever have a problem finding something to satisfy everyone.||Also note the all inclusive package they offer is excellent and you are guaranteed 3 good meals a day with that. Small note it states drinks are included (which they are) but only wine in the restaurant. All other drinks need to be taken at the bar at a different location. You cannot order them in the restaurant. ||In summary, there are definitely areas for improvement, having said that I would still recommend this hotel for the location and overall...
Read moreHaving booked this hotel I then stumbled across the recent reviews and was so worried pre visit that the service would be awful and the food unedible. This could not be further from the truth in our experience. Our flight was delayed so we arrived in the middle of the night but were met with a warm smile and a much needed quick check in. After very little sleep due to the delayed flight we needed to get to the ski equipment quickly. Unfortunately due to all of the UK flights being delayed the queue for ski hire was long and with only 2/3 people behind the desk it was a bit stressful but they did the best they could. Re food we hit breakfast around 7.30 and there was everything you'd expect (lots of hot and cold options, fresh fruit, juicer, hot drinks and fruit juices). For lunch there was again a wide option (generally a couple of different meats, fish, veg, variety of salads, soup, fresh bread, pasta, pizza, quiche and a choice of puddings and fresh fruit). For dinner again there were plenty of options even for the fussiest of eaters, and on NYE there was a wonderful selection of shell fish, party hats and all waiting staff in black tie. Heads up the restaurant gets busy when the hotel is at capacity so we stuck to heading for dinner at 7pm and never had to queue. The staff in the restaurant were all very efficient and friendly and went out of their way to help. After a day on the slopes they also serve crepes, pick n mix and chocolate fountain in the bar. Big shout out to the wonderful man and woman who worked on the crepes.....super smiley every day and great customer service. The bar is run really well and the all inclusive also includes some nice added extras like cocktails etc. We didn't take in the evening entertainment but did use the pool which was lovely and warm. The rooms (and the rest of the hotel) are well decorated and although housekeeping is quite basic we had no problem requesting additional bedding and towels. Heads up, the rooms are very warm so fluffy pj's not needed 😆 The location is up high away from the min drag but you can ski straight out from the ski room, or catch the free shuttle bus (you need number 2) which takes you right down to the main lifts. We loved the resort and hotel and will be back (family of 4 -...
Read moreWe booked the trip with Crystal Ski and our first 4 star experience and to a big hotel. We arrived to find check in was from 5pm but turned up at 3pm. We’ve seen previous reviews and was glad they said our room was ready so we got to check in early. ||Rooms are a decent size and on first arrival clean and tidy but then it fails from there, we aren’t messy but found the room wasn’t hoovered all week, had to ask at reception for extra toilet roll as it wasn’t topped up or no one had come in that day. Toilet roll holder was broken. ||Hotel Lifts can be an absolute nightmare, during busy periods you find yourself having to wait a very long time, a lot of the time we took the stairs, 4th floor so not that bad, but if you were on 8/9 complete nightmare. ||Bar was excellent, staff friendly, great selection of drinks to choose included in the all inclusive package. Snacks were usually crepes and then crisps and nuts. ||Entertainment was geared up for French, it is in France though so to be expected. ||Food, interesting…..half the time it was cold or lukewarm even on the serving hot plates or heat lamps. Great selection of food to be had though. ||Pool unfortunately broken halfway through the trip, lovely at the start but after it broke, took several days to get anyway near upto temp. ||Ski lockers can be chaos but most of the time it’s fine. Press on and then type your 4 digit code then lock, same to unlock. ||Location excellent, lift right outside the hotel village 1800, can ski back to hotel on demo left or take the village 1800 back down, it’s a green and was getting slushy and patchy towards the end of the week. ||Bus from outside the hotel down into town, run about every 15 mins. Great service ||One thing we did find though and this is no fault of the hotel, there are a lot of people, to touching things or kids coughing over food I noticed several times. Towards the end of the trip I’ve come down with a horrible gastrointestinal virus. No idea if it’s from the hotel but we didn’t eat anywhere else. ||Overall great trip but I wouldn’t class it as 4 star for the price we paid. Thankfully there were pluses and the resort...
