Central Park Hôtel & Spa — Hotel in La Rochelle

AVOID * AVOID * AVOID Manager/Owners brother physically aggressive!!!!

I stayed here and in the morning I went to check out, I had my dog with me. I was suddenly told of a lot of extra charges on my bill for the room which I had no idea about, I questioned the charges and they said I had to pay in an aggressive manor!!! I was first of all talking to the assistant manager and she started to smile at me whilst saying ''You have to pay'' over and over again, I explained that I had already pre-paid for my room and that I had clearly not used any extra services, she kept on smiling at me in a sneaky way and saying ''You have to pay''. I think they thought because I was in a different country they could take advantage of me and try charging me for extras.

The Manager come over after being called and then got right in my face and said ''PAY NOW'' he was shaking and was giving me the clear impression he was about to hit me, I looked him in the eye and said ''NO'' be backed away like a coward and said he would call the Police, I said ''fine call the Police if you can prove to me I have done something wrong I will pay you'' My dog was very distressed by all this and it all lasted about 1 hour 30 minutes. I asked if I could speak to the owner of the Hotel as it is an independent and he said ''my brother owns this Hotel, he will not speak to you''. So he is obviously a lap dog for his more successful brother and this makes him an angry man!!!

I would avoid this Hotel as the culture is very aggressive, I am lucky that I am a 6 foot high man well built and can handle these situations but if it was a women by herself or someone less confident I'm sure they would have just given them the money!!!

La Rochelle is a beautiful beautiful place and well worth the visit!!! Just not worth the risk...

Here we have a nice hotel, 10mn walk from the City center.||The rooms are very comfortable and very clean, a very good point. ||Another great one is the bed which is really high quality for a perfect night !||If you are looking for something special, try their Suite with Jacuzzi, amazing one and you can even use it at night, great moment ahead :-)||Location, Service, Rooms, everything was perfect.||The improvement points are definitey 2 for us :||- There is no Bar ! You can order food and drinks al night but there is no bar, the guy will make it for you in the kitchen that's it ! First time that we sleep in a 4 stars hotel without a real cosy place called BAR. Best exemple is to order a cocktail and you will see that there is not a real Barman.||- The Food. There is no restaurant of course but the breakfast is very poor compared to competition and if we arrive around 9/10am (it closes at 11am), there is no more fruits....They do not refill actively. ||Another unique thing is that they do not clean the tables. You can arrive at 9/10am or 11am, all tables will be there as the clients left them and you cannot choose the table then. First time ever we see this !!||In short, very nice to sleep and enjoy a Suite but services around (Bar, food...) are not at a 4stars...
