I live in Russia and unfortunately my bf and I got separated for his birthday, so I was looking for a any patisserie that could deliver a birthday cake for him. I am so much surprised and impressed by the service!! You guys are the best!!!! I was able to chose time slot, to chose the cake, size and everything which is not possible to do by internet in other patisseries in Lille!! I also left a message asking to add a note to the cake (any, even written on the box), so guys made it from chocolate!! No questions asked, no time lost, just perfect!!!! Just thank you so much for your efforts, your customer service, your work! Till the last moment I didn’t know if he’ll get the cake, because I don’t speak French, I could make mistakes etc, but it was delivered on time, with a smile and overcame all my expectations! Lemon tart is the favorite cake of my bf and he said it was the best one in his entire life!! It’s also super beautiful! So after that I got interested about the patisserie itself and found out it’s just the best one in the city! And it truly deserves this title!
I must also add that ladies who had me on the phone were super nice with me even if we didn’t understand each other’s a lot:))

Read moreI had read about the Meert patisserie and tea room at home in Australia when researching for a trip to Lille. I was really excited to hear about the history behind Meert and really wanted to experience the Tea Room. I booked to attend the tea room with my mother, husband and daughter this morning (6 July 2024) and we ordered one serve of the brioche raisin toast, two serves of the plain brioche toast and one lemon la gaufre. We also ordered a Russian Earl Grey tea, a hot and cold Chocolate and a milk coffee. The brioche wasn’t as good as we expected and was underwhelming. I was given the raisin sugar brioche, although I ordered the raisin version. My mum said the lemon la gaufre as very tasty. The chocolate drinks were too sweet even for my 15 year old daughter who loves sweet things and the Earl Grey tea didn’t taste of much. The service was also disappointing. We had to wait around 20 minutes to order and there seemed to be very few wait staff available during our breakfast. I loved seeing the old kitchen in the basement though - it was amazing! Overall the experience at Meert was not as expected and definitely not worth the price. I wouldn’t recommend it to others and I felt very...

Meert, housed at 27 Rue Esquermoise in Vieux-Lille, is a gorgeous heritage pâtisserie and tea salon renowned for its Madagascar vanilla-filled gaufres, exquisite pastries, and refined elegance. The façade and interior boast lavish 18th–19th-century design, with gilded details, marble, and ornate ceilings—truly mesmerizing .
What we loved: • Iconic vanilla waffles (gaufres)—thin, chewy, and filled with buttery vanilla cream—have been a signature treat since 1849, and connoisseurs swear by them . • A serene, opulent tea room offering an elegant setting complemented by piano music—perfect for those looking to indulge in a relaxed, refined atmosphere . • A selection of delicate French pastries—financiers, éclairs, pistachio choux, mille-feuille—that are beautifully executed and delightful to taste .
A few notes: • The gaufres can be quite sweet, so you might prefer ordering those with fruitier or speculoos creams . • Prices are premium (around €3–4 per waffle and €7+ for pastries), reflecting its historic and...
